FINE VICTORIAN SILVER AND GLASS TANKARD, EDWARD & JOHN BARNARD, LONDON 1855
the hinged lid with greyhound finial and shell patterned thumb piece to an amber glass cylindrical body, the silver upper band with cabochon oval agate jewelling, with a scroll handle, engraved with foliate and fruit decoration, on a spreading base with stepped foot, with presentation inscription ‘Presented to the Dirleton and North Berwick Coursing Club by Lady Mary C. Hamilton, Won by Henry Deans F. D. Craigleith’
26cm high
Overall, good condition. The glass shows no cracks or chips. The base edge shows a small level of tarnishing, but no large dents. The agate jewelling appears secure, and the details on the finial are secure and show no repairs. The hinged lid functions well. The piece may benifit from a detail polish.
Lots 968 and 987 are the same style of tankard and not a duplication of lots.
