Fougère, conjoined busts of Geoffroy Guichard and his wife Antonia left, rev. female seated right, holding a young boy and young girl, named (Société des Magasins du Casino, Challenge Intersecteurs, 1935-1936, Mr Joseph Ovlion, Inspecteur Régional du Secteur gagnant 1er du Classement Général), edge impressed bronze and with foundry mark, 80mm, 269.68g. Very fine £30-£40 --- Provenance: DNW Auction 42, 8 September 1999, lot 1492; DNW Auction 45, 1 March 2000, lot 833; DNW Auction 48, 30 November 2000, lot 868; DNW Auction 54, 19 June 2002, lot 902; DNW Auction 58, 24-5 June 2003, lot 1565; bt Irene Allen September 2003. Geoffroy Guichard (1867-1940), founder of the Casino group in Saint-Étienne, named after the town’s Casino Lyrique on which its first grocery store was sited. At the time of the issue of the medal, Casino Guichard operated 20 production plants, nine warehouses, 998 branches and 505 concessions across France. A similar medal to the same recipient, dated 1936-1937, is recorded as being in the Star City Homer Collections, 2016

If you are successful in purchasing lot/s being auctioned by us and opt for the item/s to be sent to you, we will use the following methods of shipment:

Within the UK
If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.

Shipping Exceptions
Certain lots such as those containing glass or sharp implements, etc., may not be suitable for in-house shipping within or outside of the UK. Please contact Noonans with any queries.
