North of Scotland & Town & County Bank Limited, obverse and reverse composite essays by W & A K Johnston, for an unissued £1 (2), 1 January 1909, serial number A/X 2/100, no signatures, some design elements pasted on, both essays mounted on dark grey boards, some scuffs and bends to the boards, both of which show mounting traces and foxing to reverse, the obverse essay largely as produced with only a few marks present, the reverse showing more in the way of marks and staining, overall a very attractive and unusual pair, extremely fine, a rare and important piece of Scottish banking history (2 notes) PMS pages 623-624 for similar £600-£800 --- Paper Money of Scotland Volume II features an interesting introduction to the North of Scotland and Town & County Bank section where these, and other essays, are outlined. Four firms submitted essays for this newly-formed bank with Bradbury Wilkinson ultimately proving successful

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
