Walter James Tolhurst was born in Gravesend, Kent, on 25 October 1888 and joined the Royal Naval Reserve as a Trimmer on 20 April 1915. Re-rated as an Engineman on 21 August 1916, he served for the rest of the War in the depot-ship H.M.S. Ceto.
Thomas Richard Cheary was born at Ash-cum-Ridley, Kent, in 1890 and attested for the Royal West Kent Regiment at Gravesend on 8 December 1915. He served with the 12th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 3 July 1916, before transferring to the 7th Battalion on 13 July 1916. He was killed in action during an assault near Albert on 23 August 1918 and is buried in Becourt Military Cemetery, France.
William Robert Croucher was born at East Farleigh, Kent,on 17 July 1876 and attested for the Royal West Kent Regiment at Gravesend on 11 December 1915. He served with the 6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 1 January 1917, and was captured and taken Prisoner of War, most likely during the costly assault on Devil’s Trench on 3 May 1917, where many of his battalion were cut off and forced to surrender due to isolation and lack of supplies. He died in captivity at Wittemberg, Germany, on 7 September 1917, and is buried in Berlin South-Western Cemetery, Germany.
Herbert Charles Bobby was born in Swanscombe, Kent, in 1892, ansd attested for the West Kent Yeomanry (Queen’s Own) in August 1915. Dismounted and transferred to the 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, he served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 1916. He was killed in action, shot by a sniper, during his battalion’s attack in heavy snow on the enemy positions at Neuville St. Vaast, north of Arras, on 9 April 1917, and is buried in Bois-Carre British Cemetery, France.

Within the UK
If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
