The Hon. William Godolphin Osborne was born on 29 March 1804, the son of Lord Francis Godolphin Osborne, later 1st Baron Godolphin, and the grandson of the 5th Duke of Leeds; he was also a direct descendent of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough.
As a Cornet in the 16th Lancers, Osborne served at the Siege of Bhurtpoor in January 1826. Remaining in India, he subsequently travelled the country with his cousin George Eden, 1st Earl of Auckland, later Governor-General of India, and while there wrote in 1840 The Court & Camp of Runjeet Sing. Having transferred to the 26th Foot (The Cameronians, or Scottish Rifles), he served with that Regiment during the First China War from 5 July 1840 to 29 August 1842. He died on 28 December 1888.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
