(Military) Commander’s 2nd type badge, gilt and enamel; Distinguished Service Order, G.VI.R., gilt and enamel, with integral top riband bar; 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, with M.I.D. oak leaf; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R.; Coronation 1953, all mounted for display purposes in a Spink, London, glazed display frame, with plaque below inscribed ‘Maj. Francis James Claude Piggott was born in Tokyo on 11 October 1910, the son of Major-General Francis Stewart Gilderoy Pigott, C.B., D.S.O., and was educated at Cheltenham College and the Royal Military College Sandhurst. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal West Surrey Regiment in 1931, and was promoted Lieutenant in 1933; Captain in 1939; Major in 1941; temporary Lieutenant-Colonel 1942; Colonel in 1955; Brigadier in 1959; and Major-General in 1961. He served during the Second World War initially with the British Expeditionary Force in France in 1940 (Mentioned in Despatches), and then in Burma, including during the final Arakan Offensive (D.S.O.). Post-War he served at HQ, British Troops in Egypt (O.B.E.); and then as Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment with the B.A.O.R. and in Malaya.
Major-General Piggott subsequently held various staff jobs, including as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence at the War Office (C.B.E.), and with S.H.A.P.E. (C.B.). He retired in 1969, and died in Somerset on 21 July 1966.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
Shipping Exceptions
