R.H.S. Case no. 18,929: ‘Sub Lieutenant A. C. T. Bruce, R.N., aged 21 years, together with six others from H.M.S. Hercules, saved Francis Moran, an Engine Fitter working on the Hercules. At 6 p.m. on 24 June 1872, Moran fell into the River Mersey, the water 12 fathoms deep and with a tide running at about 4 knots. All the rescuers jumped overboard and helped to support the man until he was taken into a boat.’ All seven rescuers were awarded the Royal Humane Society’s Medal in Bronze.
Alexander Cochrane Troubridge Bruce was born on 31 January 1851 and entered Britannia Naval College on 25 January 1865. Appointed Midshipman on 17 April 1866, he was commissioned Sub Lieutenant on 15 October 1870, and served in H.M.S. Hercules from 1 March 1872 to 5 June 1874. Awarded the Royal Humane Society’s Bronze Medal, he retired on 12 May 1876, and died in British Honduras on 26 July 1887.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
Shipping Exceptions
