Walter Frederick Hartfield was born in Sheerness, Kent, on 1 January 1879 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class in November 1894. Advanced Able Seaman in January 1898, he was posted to H.M.S. Terrible in June 1900, and served with them during the Boxer Rebellion (entitled to a no clasp medal). Advanced Petty Officer in October 1912, he served during the Great War in a variety of ships and shore based establishments, before being posted to the Coast Guard, and served at Beachy Head. He was awarded a Royal Humane Society Testimonial on Parchment for the rescue of a boy at St. Ann’s Head on 9 April 1924, and over the next five years regularly descended the 500ft cliff face in order to rescue men and dogs in difficulties. He was shore pensioned in December 1928, and died at Dovercourt, Essex, on 8 October 1956.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
Shipping Exceptions
