Post Office Telegram, dated 21 August 1935, sent on behalf of his Majesty King George V, to the South African Cricket Team, by Ralph Follett Wigram, C.M.G., Foreign Office, from Balmoral Castle, framed and glazed by Smith & Winfield, 491 West Street, Durban, worded thus:
‘S. J. Snooke Esq Hotel Metropole London = I am commanded to ask you to convey to Mr Wade and his team the warm congratulations of His Majesty on their great victory in winning the rubber after such close and well fought matches it was a great pleasure to the King to meet the South African cricketers and to see them play at Lords His Majesty wishes them all bon voyage and a happy return home = Wigram’ £100-£140

The above mentioned telegram refers to the 1935 tour of England by the South African Cricket XI. The latter won the series, winning one Test Match and drawing the remaining four; the win took place at Lord’s Cricket Ground (referred to in the Telegram), and was the first time that South Africa had won a test match in England.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
