The published Naval General Service Medal rolls confirm James Forster as an Able Seaman aboard the Caesar for the Basque Roads action of April 1809 and as a Quarter-Master’s Mate aboard the Impregnable for the operations off Algiers in August 1816, but not for the Boat Service action of 4 February 1804, the capture of the French brig corvette Curieux of 16 guns by the Centaur, this latter being one of just 10 such clasps recorded on the Admiralty roll. It should be noted, however, from P.R.O. muster research that accompanies the Lot, that James Forster is verified aboard the Centaur for the period 20 July 1803 until 20 April 1805, having been ‘Prest at Sea’, aged 18 years, on the former date. The musters confirm his continuous progression from Centaur to Galatea, 21 April 1805, to Hyaena, 30 July 1805, and thence to Caesar, 28 November 1805.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
