Provenance: Bt Münz Zentrum Rheinland September 1998.
Founded in Chicago in 1878 by a group of investors including John R. True, the company became a major producer of terracotta trimmings used by the construction industry in the US, Canada and Cuba. By the early 1890s it employed approximately 500 men, and by 1910 the workforce, now in a new facility in Lincoln Park, Chicago, had doubled. The popularity of placing terracotta mouldings on building facades peaked in the 1920s, and the company opened plants in St Louis and Denver, but its operations declined alongside the construction industry during the Great Depression and never returned; in 1965 the company’s only remaining plant, in Denver, closed
