Title: The Curragh Men, Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry Medium: Oil on Canvas Signature: Signed Lower Left Provenance: Private Collection Framed Lot Description: Oil on board depicting two fishermen in a Curragh navigating the choppy Atlantic waters on the Dingle Peninsula. Executed in O’Neill’s distinctive impasto technique, the scene brims with vitality — bold, confident strokes of the palette knife capture the sparkle of sunlight on restless waves and the raw power of the sea. The fishermen, dressed in dark clothing and vivid yellow hats, are painted with expressive economy, their forms seamlessly integrated into the vibrant maritime setting. Signed lower left. Presented in a moulded gilt and painted frame. Framed: 58 x 68 cm. PICTURES AND PRINTS Tuesday 16th September 2025 19:26:40 Biography LIAM O'NEILL (B. 1954) Born in Corca Dhuibhne, County Kerry, Liam O’Neill is celebrated for his robust, textural portrayals of Irish rural and coastal life. Deeply influenced by the dramatic landscapes and seafaring traditions of West Kerry, his paintings often depict fishing communities, farming scenes, and gatherings rooted in local culture. Working predominantly with the palette knife, O’Neill creates richly worked impasto surfaces that convey a palpable sense of movement and atmosphere. His work is widely collected in Ireland and abroad.
