A dramatic and expressive rendering of the Grand Canal, with a row of Georgian houses lining the opposite bank and bollards curving along the canal path in the foreground. A bare tree arches into the composition, adding contrast and movement. Executed in ink, gouache, and wash, O’Colman captures the atmospheric depth and rhythm of the city’s historic waterway. Framed in a neutral linen mount and classic wooden frame Image: 39.5 x 52.5 cm.; Framed: 59.5 x 71 cm. Often working in mixed media, his works are noted for their vitality, tonal depth, and keen observational quality. O'Colman exhibited widely in Ireland during the mid-20th century and remains admired for his unique visual voice.
