Biography
SAMUEL CONNOLLY TAYLOR (1870 - 1944)
Samuel Taylor was born in Belfast in 1870 and studied at the local School of Art. Although he trained as an artist in his twenties, his artistic career truly took shape in his forties when he travelled to Brittany. During this period, he visited Concarneau, Pont-Aven, and Guémené-sur-Scorff, studying under Norman Garstin. The experiences and influences he gained in these regions led him to develop a Post-Impressionist style.
Taylor exhibited his work at the Belfast Arts Society, the Royal Hibernian Academy, and the Oireachtas Art Exhibition, establishing himself as a notable figure in Irish art.
