Title: Image of W.B. Yeats Medium: Lithograph No. 3/30 Signature: Signed Lower Left Provenance: Private Collection Framed Lot Description: Louis le Brocquy HRHA (1916–2012), Head of W.B. Yeats, lithograph on handmade paper, signed lower left, from the renowned Heads series. A hauntingly ethereal portrayal of the poet William Butler Yeats, rendered in le Brocquy’s celebrated visual idiom—where the subject’s presence emerges from a void-like field. Subtle washes of grey, punctuated with expressive red and white, convey both spirit and intellect, making this one of le Brocquy's most iconic treatments of Ireland’s literary great. Float-mounted and presented in a white shadow box frame. Image: 75 x 55.5 cm.; Framed: 94 x 75 cm. PICTURES AND PRINTS Tuesday 16th September 2025 19:36:40 Biography LOUIS LE BROCQUY HRHA (1916 - 2012) Louis le Brocquy was one of Ireland’s foremost modern painters, internationally acclaimed for his Head series, which includes spiritual interpretations of cultural figures such as Yeats, Joyce, and Beckett. His work is held in prestigious collections including the National Gallery of Ireland and the Tate.
