Aziz Salim (1915-2003) A self portrait in Kurdish Dress 1980 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower left, 'Aziz Salim / 1980' Regarded by some as Kurdistan's first artist. Thought to be a self-portrait aged 65. Born near Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan, northern Iraq. Aziz, travel to Europe in 1948 and exhibited in Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt he painted landscapes, portraits and national pieces many been exhibited and collected in private/public collections throughout the Middle East, Europe and the US. Two of his oil paintings are displayed at the Royal Signals Museum in the United Kingdom. Dimensions: 36 in. (H) x 28 in. (W)
