Description
Breon O'Casey (British, 1928-2011) A striking and rare gold and coral necklace and pendant earrings. The necklace composed of barrel-shaped red coral beads, strung with seventeen pear-shaped graduated planished gold pendants. With a matching pair of earrings, stamped 'BOC.' Breon O'Casey born in London in 1928. He moved to St Ives in the 1950s and worked under artists Denis Mitchell and Barbara Hepworth. He began making jewellery inspired by the American artist Calder. His works are exhibited in museums throughout the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery. Provenance: The Oxford Gallery, Oxford; Sir Alistair Horne (1925-2017) purchased from the above in the late 1980s; Thence by descent Total length: (Necklace) 48 cm. (Earrings) 4.2 cm. Total weight: Approx. 75.6 g.
