1884 Issue
£1 keyplate design essay in brown on perf. 12 piece of paper with handpainted country name and value tablets, affixed to card (61x85mm.) marked "Spec", initialled and dated "3 sep 83". Unique. Photo
Note: De La Rue submitted designs for a general keyplate design but pointed out to the Crown Agents that this meant the dropping of the proposal for a larger £1 value. Apparently De La Rue misinterpreted the Crown Agents intentions and were then asked to quote for a design similar to the existing 1/- value "under the overprint system of stamps"
Subject to 20% VAT on Buyer’s Premium. For more information please view Terms and Conditions for Buyers.
