Rudolf Schwaiger (Austrian, 1924-1979): an important, large-scale carved red marble sculpture - titled 'Liebelei I', c.1972, depicting three entwined female nude figures, 98 cm high, later mounted on an iron and fluted stone base, weathered patina from display in a garden setting.
* Literature: 'Schwaiger. Werkstatt Monographie', pub. Jugend & Volk, 1975, illus. p.84, no. 183 of 233 works catalogued. A copy of this volume, no. 485/999, accompanies the lot.
** Please note: This lot remains in situ at the vendor's property near Bourton-on-the-Water and viewing is therefore strictly by appointment only. Please contact us in advance if you wish to view the lot. The costs of removal of the lot will be solely the responsibility of the buyer - NB: vehicular access is restricted to approx. 50 metres from the statue across a lawned, walled garden, so the statue will require some manual handling. Access for collection post-sale to be made strictly via Tayler & Fletcher - a period of 30 days for removal of the statue post-sale has been agreed with the vendors, to allow time for suitable arrangements to be made.
