Description
Mouseman and the Yorkshire Critters: a pair of mid-oak double wall lights or sconces by Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter of Thirlby - each with two shaped arms with chamfered terminals issuing from a petal carved split column, on a shaped wall mount, each with the maker's finely relief-carved wren signature perched on top of the wall mount, one to the right hand side of the mount, the other to the left, 25cm high, 33cm wide.
* Bob Hunter served a five year apprencticeship with Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's workshops in Kilburn and then worked for Alborough Crafts before its closure in 1976. He then set up his own workshop and adopted the wren as his signature after seeing a pair of wrens building a nest in his workshop. His pieces display exceptional quality carving.
* Bob Hunter served a five year apprencticeship with Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's workshops in Kilburn and then worked for Alborough Crafts before its closure in 1976. He then set up his own workshop and adopted the wren as his signature after seeing a pair of wrens building a nest in his workshop. His pieces display exceptional quality carving.
