Automobilia: a Wheels at Speed car mascot with reputed Prince Bira provenance - a well-made mascot in the style of Bentley mascots from the 1920-30s, but with a wheel in the centre, not a 'B', on a stepped, Art Deco style circular mount to a black bakelite base, overall height 16.5cm; together with a copy of 'Wheels at Speed' by Prince Chula of Thailand (aka Prince Bira), pub. London: G.T. Foulis & Co Ltd, 1946. (2)
* This mascot was, by repute, given by Prince Bira to Horace H. Gould of Bristol, who purchased Bira's Maserati 250F in 1955 to campaign in that year's World Championship as a privateer. Bira had a 3.5 litre Bentley in the 1930s, which he used to travel between races throughout Europe. This mascot was purchased by the vendor at the same time as Gould's BRDC (British Racing Driver's Club) badge, which is also included in this sale.
