Libby DCM), British War and Victory Medals. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct medal for extreme bravery between 24th and 25th March 1918 at Metz and Aveluy "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in carrying messages under heavy machine-gun fire, on one occasion through a hail storm of bullets, when the first two runners had been killed under his very eyes. It was this soldier that saw the enemy cavalry coming down the road and warned the lewis-gun team, thereby causing the enemy's total destruction. Although worn out and with his feet quite raw, he continued to work and his staying-powers were a wonder to all who came in contact with him. A fine example of pluck to the Battalion" Awarded the Military Medal for bravery in August/September 1918
