One frame houses an daguerreotype of a young man wearing a broad-brimmed hat and dark jacket, presented in a decorative gold-colored mat and preserver. The second frame features a ambrotype portrait of a man with a trimmed beard, dressed in a dark coat and bow tie, framed in an oval brass mat over burgundy velvet with a floral motif. Enclosed within a hinged union case with a tooled leather exterior, one side displaying a starburst pattern surrounded by radiating lines and stars, and the reverse adorned with an ornate floral and scroll motif. The case is edged in gilt and secured with two functioning metal clasps. Frame 1: 2"L x 0.25"W x 2.5"H; sight size approximately: 1.25"L x 1.75"H. TWO CIRCA 1850/60sS NAVAL AMBROTYPES (2). Two circa late 1850s/early 1860s ambrotypes, the first is a Royal Navy Midshipman, fouled anchor badge on his cap, the three buttons of his rank on each sleeve, what looks to be an 1856 Pattern Midshipmans Dirk at his waist, photographers details to the reverse 'Taken by J. Stokes, Photographic Artist, St Peters, Ipswich', 4 cm x 5 cm, together with an ambrotype showing a Royal Navy Warrant Officer or Chief Petty Officer, double breasted jacket with the three buttons of his rank to the cuffs, photographers details to the reverse, 'W. Boswell, Jun., Photographer, Magdalen Street, Norwich, Portraits in this style Sixpence.', 4 cm x 5 cm, (2). CR* Both daguerreotypes have good clear images but both have cracks in the glass.
* Lowder Family. A quarter-plate daguerreotype of a young man in naval uniform, by Kilburn, 222 Regent Street, c. 1850, and tinted with clouds and sky studio backdrop, original gilt-stamped morocco case with fastener, together with a half-plate ambrotype of another young naval man in uniform, c. 1860, seated with his cap in one hand, morocco case with one fastener present, plus a 9th-plate albumen print of a third young man in naval attire, possibly Windsor Lowder (b. 1841, son of John Lowder), c. 1857, seated with cap in hand, some colour tinting, morocco case with fastenersQTY: (3)NOTE:Provenance: John Frederic Lowder (1843-1902), and thence by family descent.The first two portraits appear to have been mis-identified as John Lowder (1811-18490 and Windsor Lowder (b. 1841), and it is not clear which family members they depict.

A sixth-plate tintype of a US Confederate Colonel in uniform, early 1860s, '3' visible on one shoulder, together with a ninth-plate hand-coloured ambrotype of a military bandsman, octagonal Union case with broken fastener, plus a quarter-plate ambrotype of a group of two men and five women seated in a row on donkeys and facing the camera, with trees and buildings behind, some scratches to extremities with loss of black backing, moulded gilt frameQTY: (3)

A TRAY COMPRISING SEVEN LATE NINETEENTH/EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY PICTURES, POSSIBLY AMBROTYPE OR DAGUERROTYPE, all in gilt mounted frames, all appear to have been printed on glass or metal (most sealed within their frames so cannot be checked) with glass, two folding pictures (one missing a portrait and with crack to the case), the largest height 12.5cm x width 12cm with a sticker 'William Hart Photographic Artist 125 Livery St, Birmingham,' one (cracked) marked 'Photographed by Charles Cotterill at 9 Wordsworth Road Sept. 19th 1874,' etc (1 box) (Condition Report: one portrait of a woman is mixing the corresponding part of the case, wear to frames and backs)

A box of collectables - including a Chinese brass, bamboo and white metal cigarette box, 9 x 7.5 x 5.2cm; an Oriental pierced white metal scroll case, 31.5cm long; a cased Victorian ambrotype of a lady seated in a spindle back chair; a white metal Alpacca tea infuser; a Eurohike Engineer Lesatic Compass; two mid-century tie presses; a boxed Penalli pen set; a cased Manuscript calligraphy pen; a miniature Chinese-style brass gong; a boxed pair of Oriental enamel Baoding balls; and a pair of vintage spectacles. Condition:- Chinese cigarette box: In good condition overall. One of the Shou character symbols on the lid has a loss to one side and is lifting a little at one end. There is also a loss to the keywork semi-circle to the other side of the lid.- White metal scroll holder: In good condition, with just a few small spots of corrosion to the metal in a few places.- Miniature gong: The tips of the five-pointed roof are bent, with one heavily creased.- All of the other pieces are in good condition.

Small archive of photographic and silhouette portraits relating to the Conder family comprising the following items:A 1/6th plate tinted daguerreotype of a gentleman in a passe-partout mount. A few mould spots under the glass and a rub mark above the sitters head, but otherwise in good condition. On the reverse is a pencil inscription reading 'E.Conder 1854'. [Edward Conder senior].A 1/6th plate tinted ambrotype of a man, woman and baby, mounted in a brass matte and preserver, all in good condition. The man is clearly identifiable as the same gentleman as in the daguerreotype. [Edward & Susanna Conder and child].A 1/6th plate ambrotype of a woman with a girl and boy in a horse drawn carriage with driver and attendant, in a grubby half case, the plate with an emulsion blemish across the attendant's head. This is a later style ambrotype probably of the 1870s.A 1/4 plate tinted ambrotype of a man with a girl on his knee, in a passe-partout mount.
