A matched Hague-decorated teacup and saucer and a coffee cup, c.1780, the cups probably German, the saucer Ansbach, the coffee cup with an Eastern gentleman wearing a turban and long robe, the teacup of ogee form and painted with a courting couple, the saucer with a gentleman holding a sword beside statuary, blue stork marks, and a Weesp saucer with similar decoration of a girl carrying a basket, the latter broken and restuck, 14.5cm max. A rare Weesp coffee cup, c.1769-71, the generous form painted by Louis Victor Gerverot with an exotic bird perched on a low tree, the rim with puce feathered ribbon tied with large green bows, blue crossed swords and dots mark, some gilt wear, 7cm.Cf. The Rijksmuseum, No. BK-1969-151 for a teabowl and saucer from the same service. Gerverot specialised in painting fantastical birds, having starte at Sèvres in 1764. He worked at a number of factories including Ludwigsburg, Ansbach, Höchst and Frankenthal. He came to work at Weesp in 1769 but the factory closed in 1771.

A rare pair of German porcelain ornithological saucers, c.1770-80, possibly Ansbach, naturalistically painted with pairs of birds, one with flamingoes and one with toucans, a moulded Ludwigsburg saucer painted with a central goldfinch within small landscape panels, an Ansbach cup, c.1765, painted with a robin on a branch, and a later Continental saucer painted in the Sèvres manner with a bird reserved on a deep blue ground with gilt foliate scrollwork, blue DT mark, 14.7cm max. A Loosdrecht teabowl and a saucer, c.1778-82, the teabowl painted with panels of peacocks and other exotic birds, the saucer with a bird perched on a branch within a continuous leaf border, blue MoL marks, an Ansbach coffee can decorated in The Hague with an antlered stag, erased stork mark, and an Ansbach saucer painted with a hen and cockerel, blue stork mark, 12.9cm max. A rare Ansbach scent bottle and patch box combined, c.1780, modelled as Pedrolino or Pierrot from the Commedia dell'Arte, wearing a wide collar and brimmed hat, left in the white, his head forming the stopper, with gilt metal mounts and a hinged cover enclosing a small recess for patches, some good restoration, 8.6cm.

Ab 1967 sind seine Werke auf Einzelausstellungen in Berlin und Aachen sowie Baden-Baden zu sehen. 1977 beteiligte er sich an der documenta 6 in Kassel. Mary Bellenden (bapt. 1685–1736), was the daughter of Lady Mary Ramsay, Dowager Countess of Dalhousie and her second husband, John Drummond Bellenden, 2nd Lord Bellenden of Broughton. The sitter, sometime maid of honour to Caroline of Ansbach, whose consort, George, Prince of Wales, with whom she was rumoured to have had an affair, secretly married the prince's groom of the bedchamber, John Campbell of Mamore (c. 1693–1770). Following the death of his cousin Archibald Campbell, 3rd Duke of Argyll in 1761, John Campbell succeeded to the dukedom, as 4th duke. Among others, Alexander Pope, John Gay, Horace Walpole and Lord Hervey, were captivated by Mary Bellenden's charms.George Vertue recorded how the Duke of Hamilton showed at court 'and everywhere' a miniature believed to depict Mary, Queen of Scots, 'tho amended by or repaired by L. Crosse' which 'took and posed upon the publik [sic], in such and extraordinary manner' leading it to be 'coppyd [sic] in water colours [and] enamel many times for all persons.' Bernard Lens III and Zincke were among these copyists. With its blue background the present miniature, while not reproducing the costume of the prototype, undoubtedly references the genre.
