THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERAOriginal Production Script for The Phantom of the Opera with the Technical Production Manager’s Annotations. The Technical Production Manager Jake Bell’s annotated script for the first Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, the title page headed in ink "Jake's script" and in type "New York Production," under the credits on the title the addresses of the London based "Really Useful Group" and New York based "Cameron Mackintosh Productions" are printed. Within, the printed pages of the script are annotated in pencil and typed notes in the margins, most sheets are backed or interleaved with either music of Jake Bell's print outs of computerized cues for rollers, auto-fly, traps, etc. The script is about 120 leaves, many being backed by other printed and marked up sheets. Housed in a black three-hole binder with related production instruction in the front folder titled "Stage Right Preset" and "Deck Cues," an opening night Playbill dated 26 January 1988, and a stage-used Phantom dummy finger. The title page somewhat spotted, other stray stains, wear from use, light spotting and soiling. The present script is a remarkable artifact of one of the most technically challenging and crowd pleasing musicals in Broadway history. As described in his notes below, Technical Production Manager Jake Bell was instrumental in raising - and crashing down - the famous Phantom chandelier at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway and on numerous tours. Jake's annotations and the additional inserted material here not only provides the script but also the technical cues for the monkey music box ("Warn Monkey," "Monkey Go") and the pyrotechnics for when the chandelier is first raised. As noted below, as one of the first shows to incorporate a computer system, the instructions captured in this script for that early system is quite interesting. A very important original production script wth annotations for one of Broadway's best-loved and longest running musicals. Technical Production Manager Jake Bell's Notes on The Phantom of the Opera:This script comes from the archives of Jake Bell, Technical Production Manager for The Phantom of the Opera from its first year on Broadway to its closing in April 2023 as the longest running musical in Broadway history at 13,981 performances. Jake Bell had been with Phantom from the beginning, having been first hired by British Producer Cameron Mackintosh for the Broadway production in 1988 and continuing through decades of national and international tours. The show’s technical requirements were so advanced that many theaters had to undergo extensive renovations to accommodate it. An excavator was brought in to dig the basement 10 feet deeper, allowing the candles and candelabras—212 in total—to rise seamlessly from the stage floor. The expanded basement also provided space for a trap door, a retractable staircase, and the rising Paris Opera House roof dome. Further, steel support structures were installed to hold the massive proscenium and chandelier both of which hung over the audience. Suspended above the audience, the chandelier dramatically crashed onto the stage in one of the show’s most spectacular effects. The original Broadway chandelier remained in use throughout the show’s 35-year run. It was never replaced, thanks to meticulous maintenance—including rewiring, re-welding, replacing globes, repainting, and continuous cleaning. The chandelier was named “Ruthie II” after its London counterpart, “Ruthie I.” The name was in honor of Ruth Mitchell, Hal Prince’s formidable assistant, who was known for her strong personality and unmatched dedication. At the Majestic Theatre on 44th Street, Phantom was one of the first major productions to incorporate a fully computer-automated system. With 52 computer operated automated effects controlling both the deck scenery and fly system, manual operation would have been impossible due to the sheer volume of simultaneous cues. Computerization became essential. The show’s costumes were equally legendary. The beading, fabric selections, and intricate designs were breathtaking. The Masquerade Ball scene alone featured 50-60 costumes, with some discreetly placed on mannequins to enhance the grandeur. Christine’s wedding dress bustle weighed nearly 35 pounds. The U.S. National Tour required 1.5 full 48-foot tractor-trailers solely for transporting costumes. With its technical achievements, Phantom became a global phenomenon, captivating audiences across the world. No condition report? THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERAThe silver mask worn in the final Broadway performance of The Phantom of the Opera. The silver mask designed for Emilie Kouatchou as Christine, and worn in the dramatic bridal scene by the Phantom's Christine double reflected in the mirror in the catacombs of the Paris Opera House. Some minor wear from stage use and slight crack mid-mask; Together with a similar white mask, previously worn in the Broadway production before the pandemic shutdown. An important artifact from the longest-running show in Broadway history, the silver mask worn by Emilie Kouatchou's Christine Bride double in the final Broadway performance of The Phantom of the Opera. The mask is important for being stage used in the final performance, but perhaps more critically, it is the first time the costume was changed upon the role of Christine being played by a Black woman. The silver mask was introduced on October 27, 2021, when the show reopened after being closed for over a year due to COVID. The mask was designed specifically for Emilie Kouatchou, the first black woman to perform the role, who performed as Christine until the show's epic final performance on April 16, 2023.Technical Production Manager Jake Bell's memories of The Phantom of the Opera:The silver mask present here was worn on stage in the final Broadway performance of Phantom on April 16th, 2023. Dimensions: Height 13,8 cm Wide 10,6 cm Depth 3 cmWeight: 464 grams This tsa tsa clay tablet depicts a seated Buddha in a meditative posture (dhyana mudra), adorned with remnants of gilt. The Buddha is framed by an arched niche with flanking stupas, a common architectural motif in Pagan period Buddhist art. The seated figure is positioned on a tiered pedestal, emphasizing stability and spiritual grounding. The tablet's teardrop shape, smooth yet slightly weathered surface, and evident cracks suggest both age and historical wear. The Buddha's serene expression and minimalist detailing align with Pagan period stylistic norms. The use of gilding highlights the significance of this piece, likely used for personal devotion or as a votive offering. During the Pagan period (11th–13th century), Burma (now Myanmar) witnessed an extraordinary flourish of Buddhist art and architecture. The Pagan Empire's devotion to Theravāda Buddhism led to the mass production of tsa tsa tablets, often inscribed with sacred texts or prayers. These clay tablets were typically enshrined in stupas or distributed as religious offerings to accumulate merit. The presence of gilding on this piece is notable, indicating it may have been part of a higher-status ritual object. While many tsa tsa are simpler in design, gilded examples are rarer and reflect more elaborate devotional practices. This tsa tsa exemplifies the devotional art of Pagan-era Burma, blending artistic refinement with spiritual intention. The preservation of gilding, despite its age, enhances its value as a rare and significant artifact. It may have been produced for pilgrims visiting the grand temples of Pagan, reflecting the empire’s deep commitment to Buddhist practice.

Novo-Hispanic school. Mexico. 18th century.Table-blazon or crowning piece of a reredos, depicting St. Thomas Aquinas”.124 x 93 cm. Blazon or altarpiece painting, profusely carved and gilded, with incised decoration of scrolls, flowers and geometrical designs made in polychrome and estofado technique, with a biretta in black centered above it. It has a central cartouche with an oil painting on panel of the Saint and Doctor of the Dominican Church (since 1567, proclaimed by Pope St. Pius V), known as the Angelic Doctor, Common Doctor and Doctor of Humanity, whose work is fundamental for the study of philosophy and theology. He was the main defender of natural theology. With the characteristic carving style of New Spanish Mexican art, we contemplate “a complex artifact” that encloses St. Thomas Aquinas, a painting with a frame forming part of a coat of arms, or an isolated crowning piece from an altarpiece or the door of a library or a refectory or chapter room, to which it would have been integrated (in the manner of the doors of the Library of Coimbra of the Jesuit Fathers). This is a baroque artwork that shows unity and coherence, having a style which is difficult to include within formal canons. This clearly baroque piece is not very dogmatic in its artistic execution, because it shows an extraordinary eagerness for novelty and, in the process of its creation, limitless fantasy that makes it exceptional, unique and unrepeatable. In the center, on a plain panel in the middle of this elaborate frame, we contemplate St. Thomas Aquinas, full-length and standing, depicted in a Dominican monk´s habit, wearing a white tunic with a scapular, and a black cloak with its hood thrown back. With his right hand he holds a pen from which a halo of light or fire emanates, referring to his books and written doctrine. With the left hand he holds a monstrance. This refers to his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, which manifested itself in particular in his magnificent composition of his Eucharistic Hymn "Adoro Te Devote."On his chest hangs a sun, which is an attribute to show his wisdom, and behind his back two large wings protrude, which allude to the moment when the angels girded the saint with the symbol of chastity. Above his head is Christ crucified surrounded by putti, who descend from the heavens to inspire him. The figure of the saint is depicted as a young man, beardless and with a monastic tonsure. He is superimposed on a landscape in which, at his feet, he treads and defeats the Moors and infidels, in the manner of Santiago Matamoros, as defender of “la verae doctrinae”.In the words of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, St. Thomas Aquinas is “the model of the correct way of theology”. He showed that there is harmony between faith and reason, that faith is not contrary to reason. St. Thomas not only dedicated himself to study and teaching, but also preached to the people. He was a theologian who knew how to speak with simplicity and kindness. His feast day is celebrated on January 28. Provenance:- Large estate. Seville.'

This stunning, custom-mounted GE90 composite fan blade is a piece of aerospace history. Designed for the Boeing 777, the world’s first twin-engine aircraft capable of long-haul transoceanic flights, this fan blade revolutionized jet engine technology with its pioneering use of carbon fiber composites. Developed by General Electric, the GE90 engine remains the most powerful jet engine in commercial aviation, capable of generating a staggering 115,000 pounds of thrust-enough to propel a fully loaded 777 off the ground with ease. The fan blade’s swept-back, curved design isn’t just aesthetically striking-it’s a feat of aerodynamics, allowing the engine to pull in massive volumes of air while maintaining efficiency, reducing fuel burn, and minimizing noise. Constructed from carbon fiber reinforced with a toughened epoxy matrix, this blade is twice as strong yet weighs only one-third as much as its titanium predecessors. Its advanced materials and design contribute to lighter overall engine weight, improved fuel efficiency, and quieter operation, making the Boeing 777 one of the most efficient aircraft in the sky. Now mounted on a custom pedestal, this authentic fan blade transforms into a breathtaking statement piece-a fusion of engineering ingenuity and sculptural beauty. Whether displayed in a private collection, corporate office, museum, or aviation-inspired space, this rare artifact embodies the evolution of flight and the relentless pursuit of innovation. This museum-worthy Boeing 777 GE90 fan blade is a conversation starter, a symbol of power and precision, and a tangible connection to the legacy of the Boeing 777 and modern aviation.Issued: c. 1990sDimensions: 72"H x 20"WCountry of Origin: United StatesCondition: Good
• Chauffeur driven car for Field Marshal Montgomery during WWII• HM King George VI, Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower were driven in this car• The Phantom III was the only pre-war Rolls-Royce powered by a V12 engine• Incredible history file and highly interesting provenance• Fitted with overdriveWe are pleased to present a truly remarkable automobile – the 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Touring Limousine by Freestone & Webb, chassis number 3-AZ-186. A total of only 710 Phantom IIIs were built before production ceased due to the war, and today, fewer than 300 examples are thought to remain worldwide. This stunning car, famed for its smooth-running 7,338cc V12 engine and unparalleled luxury, is far more than a testament to the marque’s engineering prowess. It is an extraordinary piece of history, with direct connections to some of the most iconic figures of the Second World War, including Field Marshal Montgomery and Winston Churchill. The story of this Phantom III begins in 1936, when it was initially owned by Frederick Wilcock, the CEO of the Talbot Motor Company. At the outbreak of World War II, the car was requisitioned by the Ministry of War’s Transport Section for use by Field Marshal Montgomery, the commanding officer of the British Eighth Army. Montgomery, famously known as “Monty,” used the Rolls-Royce as his personal staff car during the war. The vehicle became known as the ‘Green Car’ due to its unique British Racing Green and black livery, a change from Montgomery’s usual black Rolls-Royces.Montgomery used the Phantom III extensively, travelling between his homes in Virginia Water, Surrey, and London, as well as during his time at Southwick House near Portsmouth in the crucial months leading up to the D-Day invasion of Europe. This car was part of the tight security and secrecy surrounding those meetings. In fact, Montgomery’s car carried not only him but also high-ranking military figures, including General and 34th President of the United States Dwight D. Eisenhower, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and HM King George VI. A particularly fascinating detail is the custom electric cigar lighter fitted in the rear compartment for Churchill's personal use, still in place today. After the Allied victory in Europe, the Phantom III’s service continued. It was reassigned to the Chief of Staff of the United States Army Air Force, General Carl Spaatz. Unfortunately, while in American hands, it suffered some damage when an American fuel tanker backed into it, the damage that was subsequently repaired. In the 1950s, during the Suez Crisis, the car was purchased by a rubber-planter in Malaya and shipped to Penang. Given the closure of the Suez Canal, it was driven through Italy and shipped from Capetown to its new home in Malaya.By this time, the Phantom III had already earned a reputation as one of Rolls-Royce’s finest models, powered by the iconic V12 engine, unique to the Phantom III and the only Rolls-Royce to be powered by a V12 until the Silver Seraph arrived in 1998. Known for its smoothness, near-silent operation, and extraordinary torque, the Phantom III set a benchmark for luxury motoring in its day. Although the car had faced mechanical challenges in more remote regions, its engine was rebuilt several years ago and remains in superb condition. It now benefits from the fitment of overdrive, enhancing its refinement for modern road use. The car was serviced at Cheshire Classic Cars in 2017 at a cost of around £11,000 plus VAT, work consisted of a comprehensive engine service, a new exhaust system, and an alloy carburettor to replace the fragile Mazak original. In more recent years, the car has seen very little use, so some recommissioning would be recommended but the engine ran very smoothly during our photography, with some coughs from the exhaust, possibly due to either old fuel or an exhaust leak.In 2014, DGY 1 was driven back to Southwick House for a commemorative event marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Present at the event were prominent figures such as Patrick Churchill, Winston Churchill’s grandson, and Lady Arabella Stuart-Smith, Montgomery’s granddaughter. The car’s participation in this event, along with its mention in various media outlets, solidified its status as an important historical artifact. The extensive history file for this vehicle is a testament to its remarkable past, including its original wartime requisition letter. The file also contains numerous old logbooks, a huge amount of correspondence during the 1960’s when Mr Wilcock’s Son was trying to track down and purchase the car, writing to several owners trying to chase the car, but often just missing it after it had been sold, photographs, and further documentation detailing the car's fascinating ‘second life’ after the war. This 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III (DGY 1) is a rare and historically significant motorcar, offering a unique connection to the military and political leadership of World War II. It is a true collector’s piece, preserved in remarkable, possibly original, condition and benefitting from a well-documented provenance. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, this Phantom III is a must-see for any serious collector of automotive or wartime history. Supplied to auction with V5C registration document, highly detailed history folder and fitted toolkit in the boot, this Phantom III would be welcome at many top-level events and deserves to be shown around the world. French, c.1950, the body engraved 'TRILENE 2 LAB AVLON' in a fitted case with empty case for Trichlorethylene' ampoules, and mouth cover all in fitted case. The Trilene inhaler was designed to administer trichloroethylene, a drug commonly referred to as Trilene, for pain relief during labor. Mothers used the device to inhale the vapor just before the onset of each contraction, helping to manage discomfort.Introduced as an anesthetic agent in 1934, Trilene became widely used in obstetric care for its simplicity and effectiveness. However, its popularity declined over time due to the development of portable inhalers delivering a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Nitrous oxide, often preferred for its pleasant taste and reduced side effects, gradually replaced Trilene in labor pain management. While now largely a historical artifact, the Trilene inhaler represents an important step in the evolution of obstetric anesthesia and pain relief techniques.Note: from Birmingham Hospital, sold on behalf of University Hospitals Birmingham Charity

These fragments often come from larger statues, bronze sculptures, or decorative objects, where they represent just a small part of a larger whole. Roman bronze sculptures were often created to honor gods, rulers, or significant figures, and a foot fragment may have come from a statue of an emperor, deity, or mythological character. Bronze, being durable and able to hold fine details, was a favored medium for creating both public monuments and private artwork in the Roman Empire. The preservation of a bronze foot fragment often allows scholars to study the stylistic details that characterize Roman metalwork. These details could include realistic textures, such as the depiction of veins, muscles, and the fine lines of sandals or footwear, which demonstrate the high level of craftsmanship employed by Roman artisans. Such fragments reveal the naturalistic approach that Roman artists took when rendering the human body, drawing on Greek influences while also imbuing their sculptures with a sense of individuality and character. The foot itself, though a small piece, can indicate important stylistic choices in how the larger sculpture was conceived, including the use of contrapposto (a stance where weight is shifted to one leg), or drapery that might have flowed around the feet. The context in which these foot fragments are found is also significant, as they can provide clues to the location and function of the original sculpture. Many bronze statues were commissioned for public spaces such as temples, forums, and baths, and could serve both decorative and commemorative purposes. If a foot fragment is part of a larger statue, it might suggest a statue that was once an important political or religious symbol. For example, foot fragments from a statue of a ruler could symbolize imperial propaganda or a cult of personality.
