A pair of 19th century Viennese enamel and silver mounted candlesticks by Herman Boehm, Vienna, circa 1867-1874 the integrated drip pans painted with delicate scrolling foliage on cylindrical nozzles painted with gods, the cylindrical columns interrupted by chased and enamelled collars with terms in tricorn hats, raised on inverted tulip bases, each painted with four classical scenes, including Minerva and a Muse, Hercules slaying a Centaur, Mars and Venus, the foot with floral and geometric champleve, 23cm high Both in somewhat neglected condition, but beneath the dirt look to be in fair to good order, one with some scratching to the enamel around the sconce which is slightly bent out of shape, a further chip just beneath the sconce to one side of the stem, metalwork heavily oxidised but traces of enamelling showing on the raised parts, main body of the enamel looks to be good although some of it is covered in old melted candle wax, the other candlestick with wax again covering the sconce but certainly some loss of enamelling around the sconce, otherwise looks to be complete although the wax does cover some of the lower areas, foliate scroll enamelling to the undersides, equally looking to be in fair to good order.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
