A pair of carved oak bookends in the manner of Mouseman and the Yorkshire Critters - in fumed finish, one carved with a pair of woodpeckers on a surface imitating bark, the other with a stoat hunting two rabbits on an adzed surface, 16cm high.* The woodpecker bookend has a small shrinkage split to the lower edge of the right hand side (approx. 1.5in) and a couple of tiny pale water marks just above the base. The other bookend has a larger shrinkage crack to the uncarved left hand side (extending from the base to approx. 1.5in from the top. In good condition overall with no damage to the carving and a good even colour and polish in general throughout.
