A pair of Mintons Cloisonne plates retailed by Phillips of Bond Street London, dated 1870, each painted with a central Gothic monogram MAC, inside gilt border, the rim decorated with classical flower panels in gilt, highlighted with white enamel on a blue cloisonne ground, impressed and printed factory marks, 26cm. diam. (2) Catalogue notesThe monogram of AM interlaced with C probably Alfred Morrison and Mabel Chermside, whom he married in 1866. The critic Mrs Hawels in Beautiful Houses, writing about 16 Carlton House Terrace, described Mrs Morrison's private quarters having 'an enormous cabinet, filled with a pretentious service of Minton's ware - occupies one wall of the room.'
