Registration – A978 MKOChassis No. – 1230532A024271M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 97,000This delightfully Teutonic 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280CE is described as a really nice example that has been cherished by its previous keepers. It has come from a private collection and is completely original and unrestored. The period patina means it oozes authenticity as a later-series example of the famed Mercedes-Benz W123 coupe. The mileage is, for a Mercedes-Benz, relatively low, with the odometer reading 97,000 miles. This is supported by MOT records dating back to 2006. They also show it has barely been used over the past decade, further bolstering its period authenticity. It has had just six previous keepers since it was first registered in November 1983. The current owner has had the vehicle for around three and a half years.‘A978MKO’ has the choice 2.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that’s paired with an automatic transmission. Engine, transmission and electrics are all described as being in ‘good’ condition. The vendor reports it has a partial service history and has been really well looked after. “It runs really well.” Being a 1983 car, it is also now MOT exempt. Finished in period blue with a blue cloth interior, this is a great opportunity to acquire a highly original example of the iconic Mercedes-Benz pillarless coupe. The W123 Mercedes-Benz series was introduced in 1975. It was a hit from the beginning and, with first-year production restricted, cars started to be changed hands on the secondary market for several thousand Deutschmarks over list price. One of Mercedes-Benz’ most recognisable and well-loved designs, the W123 (and the C123 coupe derivative seen here, which was introduced in 1977) soon developed a reputation for bulletproof reliability – it’s arguably one of the most solidly-engineered cars there’s ever been. This means that, even today, the W123 series is a fantastic classic car buy.In summary:Cherished 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280CEOdometer reads just 97,000 milesOriginal, unrestored and comes from a private collection

Registration – WXS 511Chassis No. – P2358M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 37,488This rare 1952 Morgan Plus 4 is the desirable Drophead Coupe version, often known as DHC. Despite the Plus 4’s long production run, the DHC is a rare version, with only 450 or so produced during almost a two-decade production run. This is one of the earlier, and even rarer, flat-rad cars, using the 2,086cc Standard Vanguard four-cylinder engine. The engine and transmission are described as being in ‘excellent’ condition with the vendor reporting the engine “starts easily and does everything it should to provide a brisk and sporting drive”. It has recently undergone a full service, brake overhaul and new wheel cylinders all round.‘WXS511’ was the subject of an earlier restoration and is still in superb overall condition, reports the vendor. “The dark red paintwork suits the car well, with period steel wheels and chrome hubcaps.” Inside, there are new carpets which, along with the roof, are in good condition. The rest of the interior is described as all-original. The vendor adds that the chassis and bodywork are “in very good order, as to be expected for a low-mileage, garage-stored classic”.The Morgan Plus 4 was introduced in 1950 as a development of the existing 4/4. The chassis was strengthened and widened, and it had a longer wheelbase. It was powered by a 2,088cc Standard Vanguard four-cylinder engine. Body styles included two-seater and four-seater sports coupe, and the more luxurious drophead coupe (DHC) seen here. The original Plus 4 ran until 1969, was revived between 1985-2000, revived again between 2005-2020, and now an advanced new version based on a bonded aluminium chassis is available. In summary:Rare 1952 Morgan Plus 4 Drophead Coupe.Even rarer flat-rad version.Described as being in “superb overall condition”.

Registration – PLU 796EChassis No. – 1E1796M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 57,923Despite Sir William Lyons being an autocratic patron of Jaguar, he was also wise enough to give aerodynamicist extraordinaire, Malcom Sayer, a pretty free hand when it came to the E Type. The results, of course, have been speaking for themselves for decades. ‘PLU 796E’s’ chassis number of 1E1796 reveals it to be a superb and desirable example. The 1E prefix confirms it as a factory right hand drive, open two seater (OTS) model. Although Jaguar only recognised three distinct series of E Type, a transitional period between series 1 and 2 is sometimes referred to as “1.5.” These cars would often feature some elements of S2 specification, without much formality or structure, as production of the S1 ground to a halt and S2 production gained pace. There is no “official” chassis number designated as the start of the S1.5 but ‘PLU 796E’ is just 387 cars from the end of S1 production making it a highly likely candidate for S1.5 status. What is a matter of fact, however, is that ‘PLU 796E’ has been enjoyed by a mere three owners to date. The first retained ‘PLU 796E’ until 2011. The current owner acquired ‘PLU 796E’ in 2013 with around 56,000 miles recorded at that time. Less than 2,000 miles have been added since then, with it dry stored between uses. ‘PLU 796E’ benefitted from a nut and bolt restoration in the 1980’s undertaken by specialists, Southern Classics. Offered today with ample supporting paperwork, including an informative Heritage Certificate, this is a truly desirable example of, surely, the most esteemed British sports car.‘PLU 796E’ presents in classic British Racing Green which exudes a deep lustre from the Jaguar’s subtly flared wings and panels. Sayer’s unique blend of art and maths is writ large in the sublime form of ‘PLU 796E.’ Externally, at least, the key S1 attributes are all in evidence here – the fared in headlamp apertures, the small front grill, and diminutive rear lamps situated above the chromed bumpers. The tightly fitting fabric hood is finished in contrasting black. The “special occasion” interior of ‘PLU 796E’ is finished in complementary green leather with the bodywork, paintwork and interior all vendor rated as “good.”With the Series 1 cars offered in 3.8-litre and 4.2-litre forms, ‘PLU 796E’ is fitted with the bigger iteration of the iconic XK, straight-six engine. This was originally quoted to produce 265bhp and 283 Ib-ft of torque. Many independent road tests of the time achieved a 150mph top speed and a 0-60mph time in the mid seven seconds. ‘PLU 796E’ benefits from the factory fitment of the most desirable four speed Moss manual transmission. The mechanical systems of ‘PLU 796E’ are all rated as “excellent.”

Registration – PSK 886Chassis No. – B214ANM.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 83,105This imposing and extravagant 1956 Bentley S1 has a coachbuilt Hooper body finished in ivory and black. It is understood just 39 cars were produced in aluminium alloy to this design number, 8430, making it a very rare find today. ‘PSK886’ presents well, with enthusiast ownership evidenced by radiator grille badges from the VSCC, Royal Automobile Club and Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club. Notably, it has had just three previous keepers. The cream leather interior is bright and welcoming, with well-matched real wood veneer. Beautiful instruments carry the famous Bentley ‘B’ logo, with an inset Smiths clock, and the starter switch has a nice patina as evidence of its 83,100-mile odometer reading. Underneath the classic split bonnet, the 4.9-litres straight-six engine presents well, with plenty of period details. Overall, the condition is described as ‘average’.The rear compartment is ultra-luxurious, with lashings of leather, a broad centre armrest and wood veneer tables in the front seat backs. The double-deck boot is richly trimmed and includes a spare wheel and jack. ‘PSK886’ also comes with the original Bentley S Type handbook and a thick collection of invoices and receipts. This even includes a wonderful letter from Hooper & Co’s sales manager in 1991 offering advice on spare parts. A Mr. Ratcliffe said he would be delighted to receive photographs of the car, which was undergoing restoration at the time, and wished the owner the best of luck with it.Hooper was a British coachbuilder founded way back in 1805. Holding a royal warrant from 1830, it was renowned for its top-tier luxury carriages produced to the highest standards. It evolved from horse-drawn carriages to producing flamboyant coachbuilt bodies for motor vehicles, particularly separate-chassis Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Even after it was acquired by Daimler, this continued for decades, and it was only Rolls-Royce’s decision to stop producing rolling chassis for the motor trade that led to the Hooper ceasing production in 1959, becoming a sales and service company instead. Registration – KYU 126Chassis No. – 622246M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 94,682‘KYU126’ is a two-tone example of the post-war MKV Jaguar in optimal 3.5-litre saloon and from the penultimate year of production. ‘KYU126’ is remarkable for being in the hands of just its third owner despite its 75-year age. The current owner acquired ‘KYU126’ at auction in 2021 with the Jaguar having covered less than 10 miles since then. The available MOT history also confirms that only around 800 miles have been covered since 2006. This MKV is a home market specified and supplied right hand drive model hailing from 1950. Just under 6,000 in this specification were originally made with the Jaguar Drivers’ Club knowing of just 81 remaining as far back as 1988. That number will have likely significantly decreased by now. ‘KYU126’ is thought to have been restored in the mid 1990’s to include paintwork and interior. With an MOT exemption and zero rating for road tax based on its age, ‘KYU126’ is offered with some insightful supporting paperwork and photographs from various periods of its long history. Comes to us from the large collection of an individual enthusiast. The MKV was a technical tour-de-force, and became the first Jaguar with independent front suspension, hydraulic brakes and designed to be produced in both left and right hand drive. It was also the first to wear the distinctive rear spats. ‘KYU126’ is finished in distinctive, two tone Seafrost and Black with impressive “double-decker” chromed bumpers. The saloon style body provides room for five adults and is trimmed in a tan leather with accents of chrome and varnished, wooden veneers which were refurbished during the restoration, too. It is further reported that a full, original toolkit is present in the boot.‘‘KYU126’s’ 3.5-litre pushrod engine is based on a Standard design but built by Jaguar and rendered it as the top of the MKV range, producing around a quoted 120bhp. This was found to be good for in excess of 90mph back in its day. A four speed manual gearbox also features. So good was ‘KYU126’s’ restoration, that it appeared in a Classic Cars magazine feature in December 2003. A laminated copy of this article is reported to be present in the paperwork archive. In summary:A very rare, striking two-tone example of the MKV JaguarJust three owners to date and the subject of a diligent restoration in the mid 1990’sComplete with an instructive paperwork archive

One owner from newRecently servicedThe Lotus M100 Elan, launched in 1989, was a two-seater, convertible sportscar designed by Lotus and built with the development and testing resources of General Motors. Around 35 million was invested in its development, more than any other car in Lotus history. Its design, featuring a fibreglass composite body over a rigid steel monocoque chassis, was true to Lotus founder Colin Chapman's original philosophy of achieving performance through lightweight. The name 'Elan' connected the car with its 1960s ancestor, the original Lotus Elan. Conceived as a mass-market car and in particular one that would appeal to US buyers. Consequently, Lotus put an enormous effort into testing the car; over a two-year period 19 crash cars and 42 development vehicles were built, logging nearly a million test miles in locations from Arizona to the Arctic. The Elan was driven at racing speeds for 24 hours around the track at Snetterton. Finally, each new car was test-driven for around 30 miles at the Lotus Hethel factory to check for any manufacturing defects before being shipped to dealers. First registered 31st March 1993 to its only owner and father of our vendor, this stunning and original UK supplied M100 Elan is finished in metallic blue with a grey leather trim with cloth inserts and has covered under 18,000 miles from new. Having always been garaged and only used on sunny days, the car has recently been treated to a full service including new cambelt and light recommissioning with Lotus specialists Hofmann’s of Henley to the tune of circa £3,000. Hofmann’s also completed the MoT test certificate which is valid until August 2025 and commented that the car was spotless but for one or two minor stone chips. Described by our vendor as staggeringly original, this is a genuine collector’s example. Offered with a detailed history file, original handbook and stamped service booklet, this sprightly modern classic will put a smile on the face of all who drive her. One of just 227 UK supplied carsExtremely low mileage exampleFreshly serviced at PorscheFolding carbon bucket seatsThe Porsche 981 Spyder is a limited-edition, high-performance version of the Boxster, designed for driving enthusiasts who crave a more focused, raw driving experience. Released in 2015, it stands apart from the regular Boxster with several key enhancements. Most notably, the 981 Spyder features a more powerful 3.8-litre flat-six engine sourced from the Porsche 911, delivering 375bhp compared to the Boxster's 265 to 330bhp options. The Spyder also benefits from a lighter, more minimalist approach, shedding unnecessary luxuries and focusing on performance. This includes a manually operated roof, sportier suspension, lightweight bucket seats and lightweight wheels, among many other changes. Visually, the Spyder’s design is distinct, with unique front and rear styling, including a more aggressive front fascia and a prominent ‘double bubble’ panel on the rear of the car. Inside, the 981 Spyder retains a stripped-back, driver-focused interior, with Alcantara upholstery and sportier touches. Together, these upgrades elevate the Spyder as a purer, more thrilling version of the Boxster. Just 227 cars were supplied to the UK, making them much rarer than a 981 GT4 and as a fun road car, the Spyder is probably the best options compared to the even more hardcore GT products. This example is finished in the classic colour combination for a Spyder, harking back to James Dean’s 550 Spyder, of GT Silver Metallic with Bordeaux Red leather and black Alcantara carbon folding bucket seats. The car has covered less than 15,000 miles from new and has been serviced exclusively by Porsche main dealers, most recently in April 2025 by Porsche Centre, High Wycombe. This example is specified with the Spyder classic package, sports exhaust, Bose surround sound, PCM, DAB radio, 20” Spyder wheels, Bi Xenon auto dimming headlights and light design package. The car has been ceramic coated with G-Techniq coating and the overall condition of the car is excellent. Supplied to auction with stamped service book and owner’s manuals, V5C registration document and MoT test certificate. You would really struggle to find a better car to enjoy a road trip in this summer than a 981 Spyder and a low mileage, well specified example like this is a sure-fire future classic. Restored to a very high standard in the USAPrevious Senior division Mustang Club of America show winnerRare factory GT in original specificationFactory air conditioning & power steeringCirca 1,000 miles since engine rebuild and mechanical refreshThe Ford Mustang was the brainchild of Lee Lacocca and was branded as the first 'Pony Car', it was born out of a need to compete with the flood of European sports cars coming into the USA in the Sixties. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9th 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17th 1964. The Mustang was only available as a hardtop coupé and convertible until September 1964, it was the fastback that drew the interest of Carroll Shelby which extended the iconic reach of the Ford Mustang and firmly put it into the category of motoring legends. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and became a popular car to customise, from engine upgrades to racing stripes, no two Mustangs are often found the same. Ford kept the Mustang relatively cheap with a list price of $2,368, making the car extremely popular. This particular example is something rather special, it is a factory GT convertible, which was built on October 7th 1965 in Meuchen, New Jersey and was restored around 1988 in the USA to an extremely high standard, then only trailed to shows and covered almost no miles until around 2020. Our vendor purchased the car from Fraser Dante Limited in 2021, who refreshed the braking system and gave the car a mechanical refresh and new tyres to make it ready for use after so many years of static display. The restoration was evidently carried out to exacting standards and looks as though it could have been carried out just a handful of years ago, not nearly 40! We understand this Mustang has previously been a winner in the Senior Division of Mustang Club of America shows and it would look right at home at any classic car shows today. The Factory numbers are clearly visible around the car in the correct places and the car still retains its original C6 dated 289ci engine (which has only covered around 1,000 miles since being rebuilt) and factory specification of Wimbledon white with a white/blue pony interior and factory luggage rack on the bootlid. The car was also specified from new with the very rare option of air conditioning, which is still in place today.During our vendors ownership, an Edlebrock carburettor was fitted and tuned in August 2022, a new exhaust was fitted in September 2022 and the gearbox was stripped and rebuilt in November 2023, along with an engine oil service. This Mustang is ready to be enjoyed by the new owner right away this summer and is supplied to auction with a V5C registration document and invoices showing recent works, along with a copy of the Marti report. Recent service and full inspection with Precision Porsche LtdLow mileage exampleFour speed manual UK matching numbers 930This fantastic example of the iconic 930 Turbo was first registered on 5th May 1988, nearly 37 years prior to the date of the auction. Presented in its original colours of Grand Prix White over a navy blue/linen leather trim and carpets, this four speed manual turbo has a mere 50,548 on the clock and thus presents as one of the best preserved and desirable 911 Turbos money can buy. Our vendor has sadly decided to sell the car due to illness, having purchased the car in 2018 from its fifth owner who had stored the car in a dry garage for many years. For the current owner, as a retired race engineer, this was a retirement treat, a car that needed some mechanical recommissioning but that represented a very well kept, low mileage, time warp example. Upon purchase and whilst still working as a race engineer on classic F1 cars, the first port of call was to have the car worked through. Rather than do this personally, given the time and expertise needed, he decided to use the services of Peter Chambers Automotive Ltd, a Porsche specialist in Gloucestershire who the vendor knew. The detail of what followed can be found on the receipts in the history file (and online), it included a full engine and drivetrain rebuild so that this car would not skip a beat… the cost of such expertise was in excess of £38,000 and all completed in October of 2019. After a time running in the engine, our vendor has enjoyed using the car for navigation rallies and owners club meets with his partner and describes the car as an absolute joy, revelling in the turbo spool that such an 80’s icon provides.Sadly, of late our vendor has suffered ill health and with a heavy heart he has decided the car must find a new home. But true to our vendor’s ways, he wanted to make sure that the car was in perfect working order for its new owner. Since he could no longer work on the car himself, he commissioned one of the country’s leading Porsche specialists local to him, Precision Porsche Ltd, to carry out a 12,000-mile service, a few other minor maintenance jobs and to prepare a 38-page pre-purchase inspection report of the vehicle. The report can be found in the history file and online providing some of the very best confidence in such a collectable vehicle. The car itself has been fully detailed and presents fantastically retaining its originality with very little paint having been put to the car over the years, it still wears the original trim, stereo, key and key pouch and the full book pack all available. The 930 Turbo ‘Widowmaker’ has long been an iconic Porsche and low mileage examples are rare finds, a car with such incredible recent mechanical care is as rare as ‘hens’ teeth’. This car was not expected to see the open market for some time however circumstances have aligned to bring an opportunity to own one of the best privately owned and honest examples. Just two owners from new, the first until 2024Excellent colour combination of California Sage with dark green leatherManual gearboxComprehensive main dealer and specialist service historyThe Aston Martin V8 Vantage was first introduced in 2005 as a successor to the DB7. It features a sleek and aerodynamic design, with a powerful V8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Under the bonnet, the Vantage is powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engine that produces 380bhp and 302 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of around 175mph. The exterior of the Vantage is characterised by its low, wide stance and classic Aston Martin design elements, including the signature front grille and distinctively shaped headlights. This particular example was very tastefully specified in California Sage with an attractive dark green leather interior and the all important manual gearbox. The car has been used sparingly, having covered only 17,000 miles in the last 18 years. The car has always been particularly well maintained, with 13 main dealer service stamps, the most recent being from HR Owen in April 2025 and a further two from Bamford Rose, an independent Aston Martin specialist. Given the particularly low mileage, the overall condition of the car is understandably very impressive. The original owner kept the car until 2024, our vendor purchased the car in May 2024 and has covered around 3,500 miles in the past year. Supplied to the auction with a large history file, MoT test certificate valid until April 2026, a V5C registration document and including the cherished registration number, this Aston Martin is one for the collector or discerning enthusiast who wants something a little different to the regular grey or black cars we so often see. Recently recommissioned by CKL DevelopmentsRecommissioning included major service and gearbox overhaulThere are cars that always give the aura of undiluted power. The Shelby Mustang is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1970. For 1967, the GT350 carried over the K-Code high performance 289 powerplant with a 'COBRA' aluminium hi-rise. The GT500 was then added to the line-up. These later cars carried over few of the performance modifications of the 1965-66 GT350s although they did feature more cosmetic changes. The 1967 Shelby Mustangs got progressive rate springs that were comfortable on the motorways but stiffened as they were compressed to give good handling. A special front anti-roll bar was fitted along with Gabriel adjustable shocks. The new big block Shelby Mustang was the GT500. It was powered by Ford’s hydraulic lifter 10:1 compression, 428ci, V8 with the long duration, high-lift police interceptor camshaft. It was rated at a conservative 355bhp but actually pumped out some 50hp more while generating 420lb-ft of tyre scorching torque. Power front disc, rear drum brakes and power steering were mandatory options along with roll-bar mounted inertia reel shoulder harnesses and fold down rear seats. The 1967 Shelby Mustangs came with the full complement of scoops as well as unique fiberglass bonnet, nose and rear boot. There really was nothing that could surpass the Shelby GT500; it over-powered the competition both on and off the track. The 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 evocation we have for sale presents in splendid condition. The car had been in storage for a number of years, however it has recently been recommissioned by marque specialist CKL Developments in East Sussex. Work carried out included a major service and a gearbox overhaul. Additional work involved overhauling a brake caliper, bleeding the brakes, draining the cooling system and replenishing the anti-freeze, specialist repair to the water temperature gauge, the list is endless. The nett result of all this work is not just a £13,100 invoice but a Shelby GT500 Eleanor that is very well sorted and is ready to go. The 305ci (5.0 litre) engine starts on the button and to be expected sounds fantastic. On the road this Shelby drives really well and certainly attracts admirers. The grey paintwork is complemented by black stripes and a full ‘Eleanor’ bodykit. The black interior is in very good condition and the Carroll Shelby stitching in the headrests is a nice finishing touch. This is a great car that would be loads of fun at classic car events and shows. Offered at a realistic estimate given the condition and recent expenditure. Consigned by Stewart Banks. • UK right hand drive matching numbers example • No expense restoration by MC Wilkinson to SAYER specificationThe Jaguar E-Type Coupé is one of the most iconic and desirable classic cars ever produced. When the Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1961, it stunned the world with its sleek, aerodynamic design, high performance, and relatively affordable price compared to other sportscars of its era. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, the E-Type's curvaceous bodywork was inspired by the company's racing heritage, particularly from the D-Type, and was lauded for its beauty, with the highest compliment being paid by Enzo Ferrari. The Series I is often considered the purest form of the E-Type with its lightweight monocoque construction and independent suspension, the E-Type could reach a top speed of 150mph, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. The interior of the Series I E-Type is just as impressive, featuring leather seats, toggle switches, and a stylish dashboard that oozes vintage charm. Its disc brakes, advanced for the time, gave the car impressive stopping power to match its speed. Today, the Jaguar E-Type Coupé is highly prized among car enthusiasts and collectors, a symbol of British automotive excellence and a timeless design masterpiece. This stunning example of a Series I E-Type Fixedhead Coupé 4.2 litre is presented in Opalescent Blue with a contrasting blood red leather trim. Subject to no ordinary restoration, this is one of the few cars restored by Mike Wilkinson of MC Wilkinson to his ‘SAYER standards’ which in his own words is a no expense spared process for any client.A UK right hand drive matching numbers example, the body was fully restored by MC Wilkinson to give the car, in effect, a brand-new show standard bodyshell. The floors, inner sills and outer sills were all Zinctec panels and the engine frames were also brand new to ensure the car's bodywork was restored to the highest standard possible before the shell was then repainted to ‘show quality’ inside and out prior to its mechanical rebuild. During the mechanical rebuild the engine, gearbox and differential were all rebuilt, the exhaust system replaced for a stainless steel item with six branch manifolds to suit all coupled to Denis Welsh fast road cams which were comprehensively set up on a rolling road by a SU Carb Specialist. The car had alloy uprated front brake calipers with new integral rear brake conversion, Sayer specification handling kit, full rebuilt show quality rear axle, fully rebuilt radiator with modern super-core, original alternator fully rebuilt, upgraded heater system, new fuel tank, triple plated chrome work throughout before being fully retrimmed to concourse standard. This restoration was all completed in 2017 and within the paperwork file is a letter from Mike Wilkinson confirming the cars restoration and standards, in his own words ‘the car is in effect a brand-new E-Type restored to our Sayer standard with no expenses spared, this is without question one of the finest E-Types we have restored’.This is a stunning example of a car that would have cost in excess of double our top estimate to create and having covered little over 5,000 miles since its rebuild at the hands of some of the country’s leading specialists. • Chauffeur driven car for Field Marshal Montgomery during WWII• HM King George VI, Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower were driven in this car• The Phantom III was the only pre-war Rolls-Royce powered by a V12 engine• Incredible history file and highly interesting provenance• Fitted with overdriveWe are pleased to present a truly remarkable automobile – the 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Touring Limousine by Freestone & Webb, chassis number 3-AZ-186. A total of only 710 Phantom IIIs were built before production ceased due to the war, and today, fewer than 300 examples are thought to remain worldwide. This stunning car, famed for its smooth-running 7,338cc V12 engine and unparalleled luxury, is far more than a testament to the marque’s engineering prowess. It is an extraordinary piece of history, with direct connections to some of the most iconic figures of the Second World War, including Field Marshal Montgomery and Winston Churchill. The story of this Phantom III begins in 1936, when it was initially owned by Frederick Wilcock, the CEO of the Talbot Motor Company. At the outbreak of World War II, the car was requisitioned by the Ministry of War’s Transport Section for use by Field Marshal Montgomery, the commanding officer of the British Eighth Army. Montgomery, famously known as “Monty,” used the Rolls-Royce as his personal staff car during the war. The vehicle became known as the ‘Green Car’ due to its unique British Racing Green and black livery, a change from Montgomery’s usual black Rolls-Royces.Montgomery used the Phantom III extensively, travelling between his homes in Virginia Water, Surrey, and London, as well as during his time at Southwick House near Portsmouth in the crucial months leading up to the D-Day invasion of Europe. This car was part of the tight security and secrecy surrounding those meetings. In fact, Montgomery’s car carried not only him but also high-ranking military figures, including General and 34th President of the United States Dwight D. Eisenhower, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and HM King George VI. A particularly fascinating detail is the custom electric cigar lighter fitted in the rear compartment for Churchill's personal use, still in place today. After the Allied victory in Europe, the Phantom III’s service continued. It was reassigned to the Chief of Staff of the United States Army Air Force, General Carl Spaatz. Unfortunately, while in American hands, it suffered some damage when an American fuel tanker backed into it, the damage that was subsequently repaired. In the 1950s, during the Suez Crisis, the car was purchased by a rubber-planter in Malaya and shipped to Penang. Given the closure of the Suez Canal, it was driven through Italy and shipped from Capetown to its new home in Malaya.By this time, the Phantom III had already earned a reputation as one of Rolls-Royce’s finest models, powered by the iconic V12 engine, unique to the Phantom III and the only Rolls-Royce to be powered by a V12 until the Silver Seraph arrived in 1998. Known for its smoothness, near-silent operation, and extraordinary torque, the Phantom III set a benchmark for luxury motoring in its day. Although the car had faced mechanical challenges in more remote regions, its engine was rebuilt several years ago and remains in superb condition. It now benefits from the fitment of overdrive, enhancing its refinement for modern road use. The car was serviced at Cheshire Classic Cars in 2017 at a cost of around £11,000 plus VAT, work consisted of a comprehensive engine service, a new exhaust system, and an alloy carburettor to replace the fragile Mazak original. In more recent years, the car has seen very little use, so some recommissioning would be recommended but the engine ran very smoothly during our photography, with some coughs from the exhaust, possibly due to either old fuel or an exhaust leak.In 2014, DGY 1 was driven back to Southwick House for a commemorative event marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Present at the event were prominent figures such as Patrick Churchill, Winston Churchill’s grandson, and Lady Arabella Stuart-Smith, Montgomery’s granddaughter. The car’s participation in this event, along with its mention in various media outlets, solidified its status as an important historical artifact. The extensive history file for this vehicle is a testament to its remarkable past, including its original wartime requisition letter. The file also contains numerous old logbooks, a huge amount of correspondence during the 1960’s when Mr Wilcock’s Son was trying to track down and purchase the car, writing to several owners trying to chase the car, but often just missing it after it had been sold, photographs, and further documentation detailing the car's fascinating ‘second life’ after the war. This 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III (DGY 1) is a rare and historically significant motorcar, offering a unique connection to the military and political leadership of World War II. It is a true collector’s piece, preserved in remarkable, possibly original, condition and benefitting from a well-documented provenance. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, this Phantom III is a must-see for any serious collector of automotive or wartime history. Supplied to auction with V5C registration document, highly detailed history folder and fitted toolkit in the boot, this Phantom III would be welcome at many top-level events and deserves to be shown around the world. In 2003, Jaguar introduced the re-engineered and newly designed third generation of the XJ, continuing with the XJ8 model designation. It featured an all-aluminium body and chassis, a new V8 engine, as well as greater interior and luggage spaces. It was the first Jaguar XJ to be completely designed under Ford ownership and used electronics and computer-controlled systems sourced through existing partner suppliers or directly produced by Ford. The V8 engine was offered in larger 3.5 and 4.2 litre displacements as well as in a supercharged variation. A new six-speed automatic gearbox was fitted which was lighter and offered better economy with lock-up on all gears and a larger spread of ratios. Air suspension was fitted at the front and rear, providing adaptive damping as well as rear self-levelling with computer-controlled ride height and suspension mode. Jaguar launched the X358 facelift to the X350 at the end of February 2007 with a revised lower grille, prominent faux side air vents, small boot lid spoiler, and revised seating. A Jaguar emblem within the grille replaced the previous bonnet-mounted mascot. The front lights were revised and door mirrors incorporated side repeaters. The side sills, rear bumper, and taillights were revised while the interior featured redesigned front seats. This stunning example of a facelift 57 plate 4.2 litre V8 XJR was first registered on 29th September 2007, it is presented in black coachwork with a contrasting tan full leather interior. Before the war, Rover had produced luxury cars which ceased to be in demand in the immediate post-war period and raw materials were strictly rationed to those companies building construction or industrial equipment. Rover's original factory in Coventry had also been bombed, forcing the company to move into a huge factory it had built in Solihull for constructing aircraft. Panhard et Levassor, founded in 1887 in France, was one of the world’s pioneering automobile manufacturers. Originally a woodworking machinery company, it transitioned into automobile production after acquiring a license from Daimler to build internal combustion engines. In 1891, Panhard introduced one of the first modern automobiles, featuring a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, a configuration that became the industry standard. The company played a crucial role in shaping early automotive design and engineering, influencing car makers worldwide. Known for innovation, Panhard also contributed to military vehicle development and produced light tactical vehicles for the French army. In the post-war era, it gained attention for its lightweight, aerodynamically efficient passenger cars, such as the Dyna and PL 17, which used aluminium construction and front wheel drive. Despite its engineering prowess, Panhard was gradually absorbed by Citroën in the 1960s, ending its passenger car production by 1967. Its legacy endures as a symbol of early automotive ingenuity. This X57 is presented attractively in black coachwork with a red pin stripe and black interior. The car started life as a limousine body but was later converted to this open top tourer configuration, which suits the car very well. This Panhard was owned for more than 40 years by a Panhard club historian, so is very well known in Panhard circles and it was clearly a much-loved car for all those years. Some minor recommissioning is to be expected in places, but this would make a great summer car for attending classic car events. Supplied to auction with a V5C registration document and various bills for works throughout the years. Cosigned by Fraser Smith Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead. Additionally, we have had the car running and it ran well, though some minor recommissioning is to be expected in places following a few years of storage. Rare Continental TourerComes with original buff logbookBare metal respray 2022Lagonda's early success had been founded on the production of light cars, but the company changed direction in the mid-1920s with the introduction of the 14/60. The latter abandoned the firm's traditional in-unit gearbox in favour of a midships-mounted transmission, but of greater technical interest was the engine. Designed by Arthur Davidson, the 2.0-litre 'four' featured twin camshafts that were mounted high in the block, operating inclined valves in hemispherical combustion chambers. Power output of this advanced design was a highly respectable 60bhp. For the 1929 season, a 'low chassis' Speed Model was introduced, featuring revisions to the frame's front end and a higher-compression engine fitted with twin carburettors. The Speed Model had resulted from the factory's Le Mans effort of 1928, when the 2-Litre driven by André D'Erlanger and Douglas Hawkes had finished 11th overall in the 24-Hour endurance race. A classic example of racing improving the breed, the 'low chassis' 2-Litre possessed markedly superior handling characteristics courtesy of its lower centre of gravity. The final Speed Model variant was the Continental, which featured a slanting, slatted radiator and bigger brakes. Another distinguishing feature was its 18" diameter wheels, which had the effect of lowering the overall gearing for improved acceleration. This car's ID plate on the bulkhead is marked 'CB', denoting a Continental model, and 'T4' referring to the body type. The T4 body was made of steel and had cycle wings as standard; there were two small doors on the nearside and one on the offside, with the driver having to climb in via a triangular recess. Photographs taken in the 1930s show that 'GY 9963' had Speed Model wings, and therefore it seems reasonable to assume they were fitted by the factory to special order. During restoration they were replaced with cycle wings and running boards correct for the Continental (the original Speed Model wings are supplied with the car)This fabulous Lagonda was ordered new by Gaffikin Williams & Co of Hanover Square in London, this Continental was first owned by one Geoffrey Bowman of Stanmore followed by a handful of others before passing in November 1963 to Mr D Parker, who would keep it for the next 55 years. Sold from his estate in 2018 and then to the present owner more recently. The car has been treated to a bare metal repaint (in 2022); a recent magneto rebuild and new ignition leads; and rewiring and updating of the electrics. We are advised that the engine is running well, that the chassis has been Waxoyled and is solid and that the interior in red leather, previously reupholstered by Lagonda, is nicely patinated. In all other respects, the car is described as in working order. The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph was first unveiled on 3rd March, 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show. It replaced the Silver Spur which ended production in 1997. All Seraphs were handbuilt at the Rolls-Royce factory in Crewe, England, which stopped making Rolls-Royce models in 2002 but continued with Bentley. The car had a base price of £155,175 in the UK and was powered by a 5.4 litre aluminium alloy BMW V12 engine, making it the first twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the 1939 Phantom III. Standard electronics included digital engine management, adaptive ride control and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage were similar but quite distinct from one another. In the Seraph, the gear selector was column-mounted and the gauges followed a traditional Rolls-Royce layout . In both cars, the seats and dashboard were upholstered in Connolly leather, with dashboard trim and folding picnic trays for rear passengers and glossy burr walnut veneer. This delightful Rolls-Royce was registered in May 2000 and presents extremely well in possibly the best colour combination for this model of dark blue metallic coachwork contrasted with magnolia trim. Both the paintwork and trim appear in good order. This Seraph is offered to auction with a valid MoT test certificate, a V5c registration document and various bills and receipts for service work undertaken. The Rolls-Royce marque still conjures up a magical feeling amongst drivers and enthusiasts alike. This example offers classic British motoring at a fraction of its original cost. Subject to a no expense spared restoration with many subtle upgradesProfessionally rebuilt 359ci Chevrolet engine producing between 350bhp-400bhpRack and pinion steeringThe sole coupé model of the Ford V8 DeLuxe was a five-window design, with a single bench seat for three people. This allowed the car to boast two luggage compartments, one reached by raising the boot lid, the other from inside by lifting the seatback. The coupé was available as either a Standard or DeLuxe model, the former with a choice of the small 60bhp V8 or the 221ci 85bhp powerplant. Standard Fords had a variation of the 1938 nose, less exterior trim, and a single taillight. In DeLuxe trim, cars had the new Gregorie front end, two taillights, and came with the 85bhp engine as standard equipment. For the first time, the headlights were recessed smoothly into the front fenders, but for the last time they had free-form lenses, unconstrained by the new round shape of standardised sealed beams. Despite its limited seating, the coupé proved quite popular, with 37,326 manufactured of all types. This placed it third in sales, behind the Tudor and Fordor saloons. This exquisite Ford V8 presents in beautiful condition throughout. Imported into the UK in February 2015, this vehicle was then subjected to a no expense spared, frame-up build featuring a modified, professionally built, 359 cubic inch Chevrolet engine fuelled by a Carter 600cfm carburettor with Brodix aluminium cylinder heads, roller rockers and a hydraulic performance camshaft. The distributor is an electronic Igniter ignition and cooling is handled by a Walker radiator with the power conservatively estimated at between an eye watering 350 and 400bhp! The gearbox is a 350 automatic with a Lokar shifter, the front suspension is independent with coilover shocks and heavy-duty springs and the steering is rack and pinion. Braking at the front is taken care of by Mustang disc brakes and calipers and the rear axle is a heavy duty 9″ Ford unit with drum brakes, all sitting on a powder-coated chassis. The interior of this coupé features new headlining, carpets, seats, door trims and seat belts and the beautifully original woodgrain-look dash gives a fantastically authentic feel. A complete Ron Francis wiring loom was also installed along with new VDU gauges to complement the banjo steering wheel and the front screen winds out just as it should. One of just 369 coachbuilt examplesSubject of a light restoration back in 2016Includes modern Apple multimedia stereo systemThanks to Rolls-Royce, two of the foremost coachbuilders, H. J. Mulliner and Park Ward, joined forces to become arguably the most well-known automotive design house, Mulliner Park Ward. This very specific model was produced in limited numbers and, in fact, represents just one of 369 examples compared to 16,717 four-door models, specifically noted by the timeless grace of the swage lines setting it apart from the standard Silver Shadows.Classic cars certainly benefit from the storage and care from temperature and humidity-controlled facility and this example is no exception. Following re-importation back from America in 2015, a light restoration took place which included a full strip-down and repaint from blue to its current colour. This included refurbished brightwork as well as minor engine repairs. Apparently, the works included refurbished chrome and some minor engine repairs although the HPI only details the colour change with the other items noted from previous sales write-ups. Recent recommissioning work has been completed by specialists including Nigel Sandell, with invoices in the last six months totalling close to £7,000 with work on the engine, electrics & braking system as well a full service and MoT test to ensure all is running and driving well. Complete with the original hard-back, owner’s book, this represents a genuine opportunity to own a rare, early Silver Shadow Coupé, used sparingly but regularly and offered in metallic grey with a matching black leather interior. With just three previous owners, the last of which also added ‘Apple CarPlay’ to the central dash area, this quintessentially classic British car is certainly something of a rarity.
