English School (19th century)Portrait of James Booth (1796-1880), wearing a dark coat and white stock, oil on canvas, 75 x 62cmJames Booth, born Toxteth, Liverpool and afterwards of Knightsbridge, initially a lawyer and then secretary to the Board of Trade 1850-1865. Appointed CB 6/7/1866. His son, Charles Booth, was a famous social reformer who carried out one of the first scientific surveys of the people of London which led in part to the introduction of old age pensions. James' brother Henry Booth worked with Robert Stephenson on the 'Rocket' locomotive, creating an improved boiler design which enabled it to travel faster and for longer distances, and also introduced 'standardised time' to the UK alongside the introduction of railway timetables. BATMAN (1989) - Full-Size Joker Statue - A rare full-size statue of the Joker (Jack Nicholson) from Tim Burton's superhero film Batman. This is one of three highly detailed handmade statues of the Clown Prince of Crime created by the artist, with one being displayed at the Heroines & Heroes show at the Lokschuppen Museum.Made of silicone, the head displays a very close likeness to Nicholson, with hand-punched hair dyed green and a hand-painted and airbrushed face, including his unsettling stare and psychotic smile featuring acrylic teeth. The statue is dressed in his signature bold-coloured costume. The custom-made clothing comprises a double-breasted purple woollen coat, a green waistcoat, an orange satin shirt, purple suede gloves, tartan patterned trousers and leather and suede shoes. The Joker carries his signature fedora and walking cane to complete the display. It comes on a black aluminium tread plate base decorated with the iconic Batman symbol. PINOCCHIO (1940) - Two Original Production Pencil Drawings of Geppetto and Pinocchio Dancing - A pair of original production full-figure drawings of Geppetto and Pinocchio from Walt Disney's 1940 animated film Pinocchio.Pinocchio was Walt Disney's second animated feature and remains one of the most technically sophisticated films of its era, with shadow work, dimensional character animation, and emotional nuance pushed to new heights. These two drawings, though created for different moments, reflect the care and complexity of that process. This is an opportunity to acquire original artwork from one of the most enduring relationships in Disney history.The first drawing shows Pinocchio mid-step, arms folded, whilst attempting the Hopak dance during the song "I've Got No Strings". It features tonal cues and shadowing in red and green pencil. It is numbered "72" and from "Prod. 2003, Seq. 4.2, Scene 42". The Geppetto artwork shows him stooped and reflective yet full of movement, putting on his coat. It is labelled "Prod. 2003, Seq. 3.1, Scene 5", numbered "369," and showcases delicate shadow instruction and green tonal layout.Both sheets bear clear ink and paint reference markings, notably the use of red and green colour pencils to indicate colour separation, shading, and contour, all essential for guiding cel painters during production. The artwork sits on Disney's 5-hole peg configuration, standard for the studio's Golden Age of animation. The Geppetto drawing comes with a protective sheet of acetate. BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY - Two Photo-Matched Outfits Personally Worn by Elizabeth II and Shirt Personally Worn by Charles III - Two photo-matched HM Elizabeth II outfits and an HM Charles III shirt. This lot consists of a red dress, a red coat, and a spotted dress suit worn by Elizabeth II, and a checkered shirt worn by Charles III. Of the suits, Elizabeth wore the red dress on at least two occasions: at the Epsom Derby on the 3rd June 1981, and again for her arrival in Kiribati with Prince Philip on October 23rd, 1982, during their tour of the South Pacific, though on the latter occasion she did not wear the accompanying coat. The spotted suit, designed by the then-royal dressmaker Hardy Amies, she wore during a visit to Tasmania, Australia on October 1st 1981. Charles' shirt features a Turnbull and Asser label which reads "By appointment to HRH the Prince of Wales shirtmakers" and "H.R.H. The Prince of Wales 1999".VAT Status: †
