An Anglo Indian silver plated table lamp base, in the form of elephants raised on a circular base. Height to top of light fitting 33 cm (see illustration). We have had the vase illuminated on display, coming from the top down above the Elephants there is a four-crack running right the way through the central column. Between the Elephants legs there are two wires which come down and looking at the underside of the base they are twisted together presumably to hold the section together. However, the base is perfectly solid and very decorative.
A Georgian walnut cased longcase clock by John Stancliffe, eight day with moonphase and subsidiary second dial and date aperture. Height including finial 217 cm, with two weights and pendulum (see illustration). The hood is generally in good order. There are some slight losses to the timber behind the right-hand column. We cannot work out how this has happened. There are the usual cracking marks to the veneer but nothing untoward. There are some historic woodworm holes and the left-hand column has a small loss to the front left-hand side. The trunk door is in good order and both the left and right-hand sides of the trunk have cracking marks to the veneers. The base has been cut down at some point and there is some splitting to the left-hand edge, also a small section of veneer missing which is approx. 2 cm x 1 cm square to the left-hand side of this section.
