An antique Helvetia Swiss music CWJ polyphon, with nineteen discs with Swiss lake scene picture to the inside of the lid with handle and in working order, plays 8" discs. There are no teeth missing from the comb and the movement is in good working order. The lid has been damp at some point and there is a full-length split across the top in two places. The hole for the winding handle is missing its liner.

A Victorian coromandel gentleman's travelling vanity box, with brass mounted detail and central intertwined brass initials to top, hinged top lifting up to reveal fitted interior with mirror inside lid and fourteen silver gilt topped glass containers / jars, each with inset yellow metal cartouches engraved ESC matching lid to case, each silver top hallmarked by Frederic Purnell, London, 1872, front of box hinged and dropping down to reveal removable leather piece revealing space and a single drawer with a pair of gilt metal and mother of pearl boot jacks, lifting out to reveal a fitted area for a later comb with Chester hallmarked silver gilt top and gilt metal scissors and razor, with another concealed drawer (unable to open), lockable with key, overall sizes approx. 34.4cm wide x 26cm deep x 24.5cm high. Further details; exterior of box with minor loss and marks, small amount of scratching and general wear; few areas to brass trim / mounts with lifting or loss; small nibbles to few glass containers; interior in good condition for age with some marks to mirror and very slight loss to gilding on couple of containers but very good; wear to leather in areas.

The high comb embossed with dragons to both sides and floral decoration. To the front a helmet a fire brigade plate with a large T. Complete with brass rose bosses, which support an interlinked, leather backed chin chain. The interior retaining leather lining. Some minor age wear and service wear, with slight damage to the comb, but retains a good shape and condition. The old estate horse drawn fire engine is now exhibited in the Alresford town museum and among other exhibits are a small number of brass Fire helmets including one from the Titchborne Estate displaying a “T” to the front, as can be found on this helmet.Bosleys are unable to confirm this attribution but we are grateful to a Fire Brigade helmet collector for bringing this information to out attention.

A good Palais Royal musical sewing box, circa 1835 with a full complement of fittings. The burr wood box of sarcophagol form raised on gilt brass ball feet, inward curving sides and with mother of pearl oval escutcheon, the canted lid with cut steel raised border rising to a rectangular panel centred by a pointed oval mother of pearl tablet within cut steel pins and below a steel carrying handle. The lid interior with inset mirror over a red velvet flush fitted tray, the mother of pearl fittings comprising a set of four snowflake thread winders in circular mirror base compartments (one slightly variant), a quiver form needle case, thimble with gilt and enamel pansy motif, tweezer / earspoon, bodkin, steel bladed scissors with gilt mounts to carved arms with plain loops, a stiletto, a gilt metal mounted brush, a pair of reels, a cut glass scent bottle with silver gilt screw top, and a pair of steel scissors. The silk lined interior below the tray with a musical box, movement numbered 3881 with complete sectional comb and housed in a glazed top cardboard case, the movement fully operative and complete with winding key. The tray complete with silk squab, small split to area by left hand hinge, 24.2 x 17.2 x 11cms with handle down. From the Collection of Anne Wick
A Palais Royal burr maple and rosewood musical sewing box of sarcophagol form, circa 1830, inlaid with anthemion motifs and raised on brass bracket feet. The lid interior with mirror over a flush fitted tooled velvet tray with four mother of pear snowflake thread winders in circular mirror base compartments (one s.d.), a cut glass scent bottle, the remaining ten tools replaced and including a gold thimble. The lower section in watered ivory silk and fitted with a musical box movement with key and complete comb in good working order, complete with glass and card cover, the movement stamped ‘Z1792’, 26.5 x 20 x 13cms.

A Palais Royal musical mahogany sewing box in the form of a grand piano, circa 1830, raised on five ebony legs with gilt brass ball feet, the front with leaf pattern oval escutcheon flanked by gilt brass torchere, quiver and leaf mounts, the lid inlaid in boxwood and ebony with a keyboard. The lid interior fitted with a mirror over a flush fitted pink velvet tray with a set of four mother of pearl snowflake thread winders in circular mirror base compartments, a mother of pearl tambour hook, pair of steel bladed scissors with floral gilt mounts and carved and pierced floral and bird arms to oval loops, a mother of pearl thimble (crack and lacking oval inset), mother of pearl earspoon / tweezer (one side broken), mother of pearl quiver form needle case (lacking circular inset), two mother of pearl reels and a cut glass scent bottle with gilt metal screw cover. The lower section fitted with an operative musical box with complete sectional comb but an old replacement, moulding lacking to keyboard edge of lid, 29 x 19 x 16cms.

Further details: some implements and contents missing; exterior of case with some loss and age related damage - long piece of brass inlay missing to cover top, many scratches and wear to top, front and sides, other areas of brass inlay lifting or marked; mirror in need of clean and does have wear and marks; silver tops with tarnish, marks and some scratching; minor scratching to silver to some; some with chips or nibbles to glass bottles / containers; loss and wear to leather and velvet fitted parts in few areas; but sturdy and stable case; internal velvet cushioned part from under cover detached and loose with loss.
