MUG AND CORKSCREW | MORAVIA (CZECH / BOHEMIAN 19TH CENTURY) | 19th century | height 23 cm and 18.5 cm | Lot description | The set of two hand-painted ceramic vessels - a jug and a cone - probably comes from Moravia or Slovakia. Both vessels are decorated with traditional faience motifs in blue and white design, which were popular in folk ceramics of the 19th century.Jug: Elegant shape with a prominent handle, decorated with the Moravian rose motif, which is characteristic of the faience production of south-eastern Moravia. A rich cobalt painting with floral ornaments is complemented by a yellow line on the edge of the neck and heel. Both containers bear the hallmarks of hand-made and traditional earthenware techniques that were widespread in Moravia and Slovakia in the 19th century..Čepák: A typical bulbous container with a narrow neck and lid, intended for storing liquids. The decoration consists of distinctive geometric and plant motifs in cobalt blue, a style common in the ceramic tradition of Slovakia and Moravia. | Bidders are requested to inquire about the condition of the lot prior to the auction.
