Lot 121

Registration No: PN53 FBL Chassis No: WVWZZZ1JZ3D508840 MOT: August 2025Upgraded by Volkswagen specialists The Phirm, Surrey with a bespoke turbocharger installationStill retaining a very original look One of c.2,391 MkIV iterations of the R32Displaying a low mileage of some 54,518By the time Volkswagen got to the MkIV version of the Golf GTI, it had got heavier and slower. Something clearly needed to be done. Behold, the entry of the Golf R32 in the last two years of MkIV production, and undoubtedly the flagship of the Golf MkIV range. Built for just a few years from 2002 to 2004, it was loosely based on the same running gear as the Audi TT 3.2 Quattro. According to mkivr32.com, some 2,391 MkIV versions of the R32 were produced for the UK market. Rare in 2003, and even rarer to find today. The 3.2-litre V6 engine fitted to the R32, was a massively revised version of the perennial 2.8-litre V6 (née VR6) unit. The Golf is said to hit 60mph in a blink under 6.5 seconds and will only stop accelerating at 153mph. Rivals of the day included the Subaru Impreza and the original Ford Focus RS. The R32's design was more classless and more understated than them both. With subtle changes to the GTI looks, it is easy to spot an R32 from a plain GTI, it sits around 20mm lower, and then there is the addition of a body kit, with a roof spoiler and a large front bumper. Unique 18-inch multi-spoke alloys were fitted along with a bespoke exhaust. On the inside, body-hugging sports seats were fitted, ideal for when you were pressing on. Once again there was a hot Golf, ready to thrill and excite.Which brings us to this rather special MkIV Golf R32, first registered on 6th September 2003, the vendor purchased the R32 in February 2008, with some 14,000 miles on the clock. Having owned a few Volkswagens over the years, he knew the VAG specialists The Phirm, in Surrey, and set about discussions about turbocharging the R32. There was an EIP turbo-kit sourced from the USA and The Phirm made plans for a bespoke fit. A number of parts were sourced at a cost in excess of £15,000. A further substantial amount was then spent on ceramic coating with a company called Zircotec, specialists in reducing temperatures under the bonnet. The alloys are standard but diamond-cut to give them a stunning look and shod with Goodyear F1s. Large AP Racing brakes were sourced and modified to fit the R32, at a cost of some £5,000. The main request on the conversion was to make it look 'factory OEM', so, to the untrained eye, the engine looks much like any other R32. Inside, the double DIN stereo was replaced to house 3 gauges with matching trim to blend with the rest of the cockpit. The Phirm have looked after this car in our vendor's ownership. All in all, over £30,000 has been spent to get the R32 to the standard he wanted. The conversion took nearly a year to fully complete. All parts used were 'the best available' and with the timing chain replaced at c.37,000 miles, it now displays some 54,518 miles. Part of a small collection, the Golf is kept in a warm garage, only driven in sunny weather and never raced or tracked. It has covered some 35,000 miles since the modifications and serviced and MOT’d regardless of the mileage. There's a current V5, a comprehensive service history, receipts for works done, old MOTs, the bookpack and 2 keys. Registration – SO02 PMUChassis No. – WVWZZZ1JZ3W118934M.O.T. – July 2025Odometer – 135,000Limited edition Volkswagen Golf GTI are always desirable for enthusiasts, and this much-loved 25th Anniversary model is particularly alluring. Number 0280 of just 1800 built, this 1.8-litre turbo is also one of just 900 petrol versions made (the rest were TDI diesels). Finished in gleaming Reflex Silver, it has an odometer reading 134,000 miles, and comes with a clear HPI report. ‘SO02PMU’ has benefitted from a truly incredible amount of diligent work by the vendor during their ownership, evidenced by a thick folder of receipts to prove the work has been carried out to a high standard. Key highlights include a new K03S turbo, a rebuilt gearbox, new driveshafts and a full front-mount intercooler. Both clutch and cambelt were replaced at 110,000 miles, while the front discs, pads and calipers have all been refreshed. At the most recent service (132k miles), the car had a new oil pressure sensor, oil pick-up pipe, new power steering sensor and banjo bolt, new coolant pipe and three-way valve, new A/C condenser (and re-gas), a PAS flush, plus K&N air filter, pollen filter, oil and filter change. This collectable Golf GTI has an array of 25th Anniversary parts, including the front splitter, side skirts, door mirrors, rear diffuser and spoiler, plus the rare black headlights and BBS RC336 18-inch alloys. The wheels are refurbished and come with four brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres). Inside, there are Anniversary Recaro Le Mans sports seats, brushed aluminium interior trim and aluminium pedals, a desirable Anniversary gearknob and celebratory build number plaque. There is even a bespoke Anniversary instrument cluster and perforated leather steering wheel. For Golf GTI enthusiasts, it is enormously appealing. The vendor has fitted ‘SO02PMU’ with a few extra highlights too, adding further to its appeal. The US-spec red front badge is extremely rare, and it has a new boot emblem. The Euro-spec rear lights are equally collectable, while the Reflex Silver paint is set off by a black roof. The vendor has even commissioned a custom-made centre cap tool with ‘0280’ engraving. The full Milltek exhaust is another highlight; it “sounds nice and is not too loud”. Inside, there’s LED lighting, flush illuminated vents from the Golf R32, a factory front armrest with storage and a Southwest Performance boost gauge. Meanwhile, an Alpine audio system with uprated speakers brings premium sound inside. Overall, this outstanding Volkswagen Golf GTI 25th Anniversary presents a rare opportunity to acquire a collectable model that’s benefitted from an enormous amount of care and attention from a true enthusiast, which is certain to be a prized car in years to come. · 2002 Volkswagen Golf GTI 25th Anniversary· Enthusiast owned with many bespoke details· Huge amount of fully-evidenced high-quality work

Registration – WGU 475FChassis No. – 194678S422375M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 44,085This striking Chevrolet Corvette, ‘WGU475F’ dates from 1968 making it from the first year of C3, third generation production. ‘WGU475F’ spent the majority of its life in the temperate state of Florida before being imported to the UK in 2017. Since then, it has been in the ownership of its first and only UK keeper. ‘WGU475F’ is notable for its high degree of 1968 originality and highly impressive overall condition. This is due to the full restoration it enjoyed before being imported to the UK. ‘WGU475F’ presents in rarer but more desirable four speed manual form and is fitted with the 327 cubic inch small block V8. Today it is offered with a good level of paperwork relating to its time in Florida and a new hood dating from around 2016. ‘WGU475F’ is MOT exempt and zero rated for vehicle excise duty based on its Historic Vehicle status. As such it is ready to use and enjoy immediately and ideal for the summer months in this popular full convertible configuration.‘WGU475F’ is a thoroughly captivating eye full in its bright Sahara Yellow livery, combined with its familiar “roulette wheel” rims and high profile Goodyear tyres with the sidewall text picked out in white. Those big oblong pop-up headlamps and muscular looking rear haunches seem to work so well in this desirable full convertible configuration. Both body and paintwork are vendor rated as “excellent.” The sports orientated cabin also scores highly for originality with even the original factory steering wheel still present. The black vinyl upholstery contrasts very well with the bright external livery and the condition is rated as “good.”The C3 Corvettes were offered with a dizzyingly varied number of engine options and ‘WGU475F’ left the St. Louis plant fitted with the L30 327 cubic inch (5.4L) small block V8. This was carried over from the C2 model and was originally rated at between 300 – 350 bhp. In this case the desirable M20 four speed manual gearbox is fitted. The current vendor rates both engine and transmission as “excellent” with the electrics rated as “good.” All in all, ‘WGU475F’ represents a thoroughly delightful and original looking example of this most iconic of American muscle cars.In summary:· Subject to a pre-import full and thorough restoration· Offered in desirable full convertible configuration with a recently new hood· Featuring the 327 ci V8 mated to the desirable four speed manual transmission

• Comprehensive service and maintenance history • Desirable Boomerang rear lights The Maserati 3200 GT was styled by Italdesign whose founder and head, Giorgetto Giugiaro, previously designed, amongst others, the Ghibli, Bora and Merak and so certainly had the pedigree behind him. Sold mainly in Europe, the 3200 GT shared the twin-turbo 3.2 litre, V8 featured in the Quattroporte IV and Shamal, revised and tuned to 365bhp. The taillights consisted of LEDs arranged in the shape of a boomerang. The outer layer of the 'boomerang' provided the brake light, with the inner layer providing the directional indicator. Sadly, the U.S. insisted on bulbs and so, as is so often the way, style made way for bureaucracy. Nevertheless, it went on to be a great success, until 2007, with the boomerang rear lights being the more desirable. This example is presented in Grigio Touring with unique Piano Black vents, mirrors and wheels and a blue leather interior. Originally sold by Maranello (Egham) in September 1999, the car then changed hands a number of times until it was sold in 2016 through an auction house to motoring journalist Roberto Giordanelli who then had the car renovated at Maserati specialists McGrath. The current owner acquired the car in 2022 and in his words has ‘maintained it as a driver’s car that is kept in regular use, particularly for continental road trips’. The service history is comprehensive and detailed by invoices, the original book pack and toolkit are present as are two keys plus the red master key. Common 3200 GT issues have importantly been tackled including the throttle body and pedal pot, a reconditioned radiator, the front subframe has been replaced, reconditioned gearbox, rear crank seal, prop shaft coupling, valve clearances and shims, turbo retaining bolts and intercooler replacement, rear phonic rings, air conditioning compressor and HVAC unit, various wishbones replaced and more with a £4,000 major cambelt service with new tensioners, bearings and water pump at Emblem in March 2023. Sat on a ‘newish’ set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres and with a new MoT until February 2026, our vendor states the car should be ready to enjoy after a minor oil, coolant and brake fluid service in the Spring. An accompanying comprehensive history file contains two large booklets spanning the entire life of the car from the initial Order Form in 1972 through to the latest service using Ford Motocraft items in July 2024. There are also historic MOT Certificates, the original service book, maintenance invoices and many AVO Club Valuations, including an early one from Mexico Registrar, Andy Percival, for £2,750. Also present are many photos of the meticulous restoration carried out in the late 1990s, which is also magazine-featured and is a testament to how well the car presents today over two decades later. Such was the standard that, when completed in April 2000 and on the cars first outing to AVO National Day, it achieved a third in class and was invited onto the AVO Club Stand at the Classic & Sports Car NEC Show in November 2000.Resplendent in one of the three original launch colours, Sunset Red (Code J), this early production L-specification example retains all the correct period details (such as the rear stone deflector held in by eight bolts in the boot floor and strengthened AVO workmanship). Panel fit is excellent, many still protected by the Ziebart rust protection applied when new and the rear arches are correctly rolled. The lens units are FoMoCo and the front Carello headlamps are protected by clear dome covers. The contrasting Mexico stickers are in fantastic condition, promoting the iconic rally look, with all glass being the genuine Ford Triplex items including the front screen.Inside displays the correct Black PVC upholstery (Code AA), as fitted to ‘L’-specification early cars. Fitted with the factory 140mph speedometer and 8,000rpm rev counter, all gauges, controls and switches are fully operational. The original black one-piece rubber floor mat is also present and in excellent condition. The boot area has the early Mexico’s battery-in-boot setup, meaning the spare wheel is mounted to the boot floor. The boot mat is original and incredibly, the rear cardboard boot spring protector is present along with black light protectors undamaged. The jack and wheel brace are within the original fawn muslin bag held down by the correct rubber band.Under the bonnet resides the matching numbers four-cylinder 1600 GT crossflow engine with the 711M block, quoted in the sales brochure at 86bhp, offering 100mph with little effort and 0-60 in under 11 seconds. Correct specification throughout from the AC oval metal airbox finished in silver to the Weber 32/36 DGV-FA carburettor will also please marque enthusiasts. The top-plate reveals the chassis number and the original VIN plate and AVO ID plate remain fixed to the slam panel.Fitted with the correct pressed steel wheels with the cooling slots measuring 5.5 x 13" and immaculate chrome hubcaps and a matching set of Goodyear GT Sport 175/70 R13. The remote servo-assisted brakes powered by the early Girling Powerstop AHV 550 Mk2A help grip the front discs and the rear drums more than adequately.Interest in Performance Fords from the 1970s and 1980s shows no signs of abating and this remarkable Sunset Red Mexico would be an asset to any enthusiast of these era-defining, characterful, sporting Fords.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT MK1 MEXICO Year: 1972 Chassis Number: BFATMC00089 Registration Number: HAC 522K Transmission: Manual Engine Number: MC00089 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
