A LARGE GILT METAL FRAMED HALL LANTERN LATE 19TH CENTURY With anthemion and scrollwork metalwork decoration around the octagonal glazed body 120cm high, 69cm wide Provenance: Purchased directly from Robert Kime in 1989 Condition Report: In condition representative of regular domestic use and cleaning. With only fragments of original gilding visible to frame, mostly to recessed areas. Upper sections with grey, white traces of cleaning products. Glass panels replaced and with some chipping visible to several of the upper panel edges. Lacks circular base glass section. London & North Eastern Railway official Glass Lantern Slides of company transport vehicles 3.25in square quantity 61 contained in original wooden carry box albeit the leather strap is broken. The box has both a North Eastern Railway Glass label and an LNER Glass label affixed. There are a few North Eastern slides present and a small amount of colour non railway glass slides. Overall quite superb quality.
