Letter from Lord Byron, dated July 21st 1807. The letter is addressed to Mr Crosby of Stationer's Court and sealed in red wax with Byron’s mermaid pictorial seal:July 27th 1807, SirI have sent you a critique on Wordsworths poems for ‘Literary Recreations’ insert or not as you please, or rather, the Editors, of course they must alter or change what they disapprove, if it is not deemed worthy of publication, you need not trouble yourself to return the manuscript, but commit to the flames, in a day or two I will send a manuscript poem for the same work&c & Byron NB: Although lost for some decades, this letter is previously known and documented in Leslie Marchand's edition of Byron's letters and journals (Vol. 1, p. 129), from Eugenius Roche's London in a Thousand Years of 1830, which also references another short letter to Crosby, apparently written later the same day, now in the British Library (Egerton 2332 f.1). Monthly Literary Recreations only ran to three editions in 1806/7. Byron contributed the review of Wordsworth in 1807 via Crosby who was the London correspondent of Byron's publisher Ridge. Crosby was the publisher of Literary Recreations. Complete deck of I Tarocchi di Paracelso cards, circa 1993, subtitled 'Medico, chirurgo, filosofo e alchemista' referring to the medical doctor and alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541). The 22 Majors use the 22 images from the illuminated alchemical manuscript Splendor solis' (British Library version) whose conception was in no way influenced by tarot imagery and had nothing to do with Paracelsus. The titles of the Majors here use the titles of the chapter in the Splendor solis manuscript to which the illustration applies, rather than any tarot association. (Text from the Tarot Database on The Alchemy Website.) Limited to 1000 copies (not numbered) and made primarily for the medical establishment (Kaplan and IPCS reference).
