Registration – A978 MKOChassis No. – 1230532A024271M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 97,000This delightfully Teutonic 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280CE is described as a really nice example that has been cherished by its previous keepers. It has come from a private collection and is completely original and unrestored. The period patina means it oozes authenticity as a later-series example of the famed Mercedes-Benz W123 coupe. The mileage is, for a Mercedes-Benz, relatively low, with the odometer reading 97,000 miles. This is supported by MOT records dating back to 2006. They also show it has barely been used over the past decade, further bolstering its period authenticity. It has had just six previous keepers since it was first registered in November 1983. The current owner has had the vehicle for around three and a half years.‘A978MKO’ has the choice 2.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that’s paired with an automatic transmission. Engine, transmission and electrics are all described as being in ‘good’ condition. The vendor reports it has a partial service history and has been really well looked after. “It runs really well.” Being a 1983 car, it is also now MOT exempt. Finished in period blue with a blue cloth interior, this is a great opportunity to acquire a highly original example of the iconic Mercedes-Benz pillarless coupe. The W123 Mercedes-Benz series was introduced in 1975. It was a hit from the beginning and, with first-year production restricted, cars started to be changed hands on the secondary market for several thousand Deutschmarks over list price. One of Mercedes-Benz’ most recognisable and well-loved designs, the W123 (and the C123 coupe derivative seen here, which was introduced in 1977) soon developed a reputation for bulletproof reliability – it’s arguably one of the most solidly-engineered cars there’s ever been. This means that, even today, the W123 series is a fantastic classic car buy.In summary:Cherished 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280CEOdometer reads just 97,000 milesOriginal, unrestored and comes from a private collection
Registration – LNV 676LChassis No. – 2B1194BWM.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 59,765‘LNV676L’ is a very rare iteration of Sir William Lyons’ swansong – the XJ saloon. Being a Series I range topping V12 Vanden Plas model this car is one of just 351 originally built making it the rarest model from this first series of luxury saloons. ‘LNV676L’ is described as a non-running barn find and so offers an enticing opportunity to bring this rarest of models up to its former glory. With just six former keepers, the vendor acquired this survivor car around 4 years ago and it has been stored ever since. The Smiths odometer reads a shade under 60,000 miles which isn’t warranted but seems believable. ‘LNV676L’ is revealed as a long wheelbase version – 4 inches longer – by its chassis number which also confirms it as the 193rd of 351 made. Back in 1973 this car would have provided a viable alternative to a Rolls-Royce, Bentley or top of the range Mercedes-Benz. This car comes from the large private collection of an individual enthusiast and is offered here with NO RESERVE.The Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas Series I was only built for one year between September 1972 and September 1973, hence making it a very low volume and rarely seen model. This barn find example exhibits all the Series I cues including the deep, forward raked grill, vinyl roof and the special gunmetal finished, pressed steel wheels with Daimler chrome hubcaps. Even the original twin driving lights above the front bumper are still present. As a true Rolls-Royce alternative, the Vandan Plas was awash with rare refinements for 1973. This includes seating faced with leather to a special Vanden Plas design. Air-conditioning, a radio/stereo tape or 8 track (as included here) player with electric aerial and 4 speakers, remote-controlled driver’s door mirror, electric windows, heated rear window, reading lamps for rear passengers and red warning lights fitted to all doors were all standard and remain present here. ‘LNV676L’s’ paintwork, bodywork and interior are all described as “average.”The Series I Double Six, a Daimler model name last used in the mid 1920’s, provided the first saloon outing for the esteemed 5.3-litre V12 engine. It also made it the first mass production V12 saloon and simultaneously the "fastest full four-seater available in the world." In this early application the V12 was fitted with four carburettors and originally produced a bountiful 309bhp. This is mated to a Type 12 Borg Warner three speed automatic gearbox. ‘LNV676L’ is classed as a non-runner with the engine and electrics classed as “poor” and the transmission as “average.”In summary:A barn find example of the very rare Series I Daimler Double Six Vanden PlasPresents in a highly original and seemingly complete conditionOffering great potential for improvement and restoration
Registration – YF54 MVEChassis No. – WDB2304792F092290M.O.T. – July 2025Odometer – 118,000‘YF54 MVE’ represent the rarest model the R230 SL range with just 3,055 of this V12, twin-turbo powered range topper produced and less than 100 making it to the UK. With an original sticker price of over £140,000 and originally quoted as having over 600bhp and 700 Ib-ft of torque, ‘YF54 MVE’ is a Mercedes-Benz purist’s dream. ‘YF54 MVE’ has been in the current ownership for around six years during which time it has been fastidiously maintained by its keeper. During this ownership the oil has been changed at 3,000 mile intervals and a full engine overhaul has been performed around two thousand miles ago. A huge list of other work has been undertaken and improvements made. ‘YF54 MVE’ is offered with a documented service history, a current advisory free MOT until July 2025 and is offered here with NO RESERVE. A vanishingly rare opportunity to secure a very scarce V12, twin turbo supercar beater.Despite the R230 range already featuring two flavours of 500 bhp models – the SL55 AMG and the SL600 – AMG wanted more. The SL65 AMG arrived in 2004 featuring the 6-litre, hand built version of the M275 twin-turbo V12 unit and 738 Ib-ft which was a then record for a production car. Car and Driver achieved a 3.6 second 0-60mph time and needed just 7.5 second to reach 100mph. With the electronic limiter disabled the SL65 was reportedly good for 216 mph. The current keeper has provided a huge list of work undertaken in his ownership and this will be included with the car. A few of the highlights, however, include including full engine gasket replacements, turbo upgrades, suspension refresh, gearbox refresh, diff rebuild, new serpentine belt, three idlers and tensioner, new starter motor, main and auxiliary radiators and associated pipework. The rear subframe has been removed, the surface corrosion removed and repainted with POR-15 rust inhibiter, suspension components cleaned, and many new bushes fitted. There is much, much more detailed by the current owner. Some valuable parts are also included, not least a full, brand new set of Brembo front brake discs and pads. The mechanical facets of ‘YF54 MVE’ are vendor rated as “excellent.”Finished in Obsidian Black ‘YF54 MVE’ presents as a surprisingly stealthy twin turbo V12, in many ways. All the much admired elements of the R230 are noted here including the origami-esque folding metal roof and the AMG specific quad oval tailpipes. ‘YF54 MVE’ sporting and highly luxurious cabin is swathed in supple red leather and accents of grey Alcantara and features just about every refinement available in 2004. The vendor rates the paintwork, bodywork and interior as “good.”In summary:One of less than 100 range topping R230s to make it to the UKSuperbly maintained by the current keeper, regardless of costComplete with some desirable and valuable spare parts
Registration – L456 LWRChassis No. – WDB1240662C010306M.O.T. – January 2026Odometer – 103,373This elegant 1993 Mercedes-Benz 320 CE Cabriolet is finished in sparkling silver metallic with a blue leather interior. Unlike many Mercedes-Benz W124, it has had just three previous keepers since it was registered in August 1993. The third owner kept it for more than 23 years, while the vendor has owned it for almost four years. Brand aficionados will appreciate the vendor’s description that it is “completely standard as it came out the factory”. The original 16-inch alloys have been recently fitted with Pirelli tyres all round. The chrome and brightwork is also in good order with no pitting. “A brand new hood and rams were fitted in 2022.” The MOT is valid until January 2026.‘L456LWR’ has an odometer reading just 103,000 miles. W124 experts will attest this means it is ‘barely run in’. Both the 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine and automatic transmission are described as being in ‘excellent’ condition. The vendor says ‘L456LWR’ comes with two keys and a partial history that includes a range of franchised dealer and independent servicing. The file also includes “lots of receipts”. The proud vendor is happy to confirm the outside is also “very clean, and has been washed and polished regularly”.The W124 Mercedes-Benz was introduced in 1984. A meticulously-engineered car in the traditional Mercedes-Benz way, development started way back in 1977, with contemporary technology including advanced multi-link rear suspension and an ingenious ‘jumping’ single-arm windscreen wiper. It was offered in four bodystyles – saloon, estate, coupe and convertible, with a range of four-cylinder, six-cylinder and later V8 engines. Both coupe and convertible shared a ‘pillarless’ design, complete with memorable seatbelt ‘robot’ arms. In summary:1993 Mercedes-Benz 320 CE CabrioletJust three former keepersCompletely standard “as it came out the factory”
Registration – NWT 670AChassis No. – 11102110051585M.O.T. – ExemptOdometer – 46,000‘NWT670A’ is a striking example of a 1966 Mercedes-Benz W111, two door coupe with the distinctive Paul Bracq, “Heckflosse,” or “fin tail” design. ‘NWT670A’ was imported to the UK in 2021 and has been part of a private collection ever since. Seemingly coming from a benign climate, ‘NWT670A’ is reported to be corrosion free throughout. Much has been spent on this elegant Mercedes coupe in the current ownership including an impressive interior retrim as well as mechanical maintenance. ‘NWT670A’ is an Historic Vehicle based on its age and so MOT exempt and zero rated for road tax. Despite its exemption it was MOT’d in April 2024, passing with just two basic advisories. As such ‘NWT670A’ represents a very rare example of this exclusive model. The coupe version of the W111 appeared in 1960 and was marked out from the saloons of the W111 range by having a more luxurious and lavishly equipped interior, and exterior styling which was a squarer, more modern looking version of the saloon. Even the signature fins were reduced in prominence. ‘NWT670A’ exhibits these traits and more, presenting in a crisp white livery. The instantly recognisable Mercedes-Benz grill is present in large and dominant form nestling between double chrome bumpers and the equally familiar, vertically stacked quad headlamps. The subtle, Paul Bracq rear window treatment is especially distinctive, and the coupe sits on a set of “Mexican Hat” alloy wheels. The luxurious and surprisingly spacious interior was retrimmed two years ago helping to set ‘NWT670A’ still further apart from other examples. The bodywork, paintwork and interior are all rated as “good.”The W111’s refined persona was further enhanced by the fitting of a range of smooth and powerful straight six engines. ‘NWT670A’ features the 2.2-litre M127 engine which provides a nice blend of refinement, performance and relative economy. In this application the engine features Bosch multipoint fuel injection and the power output was originally rated at approximately 120bhp. In ‘NWT670A’ this is mated to a four speed manual gearbox. Much has been spent on maintenance in current ownership resulting in all mechanical facets of ‘NWT670A’ being rated as “good.”In summary:· A rarely seen two door coupe model of the revered Mercedes W111· Presenting in an excellent condition throughout and reportedly rust free· Recently retrimmed and diligently maintained for immediate use
Registration – KX05 AFUChassis No. – WDB1714422F036040M.O.T. – January 2026Odometer –121,000Offered at No Reserve, this 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 Kompressor features a supercharged 2.0-litre engine paired with an automatic gearbox. The vendor says it “looks and drives well,” with the trademark folding hard-top roof problem-free. It has a partial service history, and was most recently serviced in January 2025, when it was also given a fresh MOT.‘KX05AFU’ has also had a considerable amount of work done on it. This includes a new subframe – fitted by Mercedes-Benz – new brake discs and pads, new brake wear leads, new inboard shoes and a fresh handbrake cable. This further enhances a condition that the vendor describes as ‘good’ overall. The odometer reads 121,000 miles and the vendor adds that a condition alert received in September 2024 didn’t come with a category marker. Following its renewal, which involved a “massive” amount of work, it now “runs perfectly”.The Mercedes-Benz SLK was released in 1996 as a stylish compact roadster with an ingenious folding hard-top roof. The original R170 was designed under the famed Bruno Sacco, as a modern tribute to the 1950s Mercedes-Benz 190SL, and soon developed a cult following. Its successor, the R171, was launched in 2004, featuring a comprehensive round of improvements that improved the car’s torsional rigidity and aerodynamics. The roof operated more quickly, and an optimised design meant it took up less boot space. This car is an R171 version, featuring the torquey and efficient supercharged 2.0-litre engine. In summary:Offered at No ReserveRecently servicedComprehensive renewal work
Registration – L430 RHFChassis No. – WDB2010242G066040M.O.T. – November 2025Odometer – 97,453‘L430RHF’ is an original example of Mercedes-Benz’s first compact car in W201 form and 190E configuration. Mercedes-Benz’s entrée into the compact executive market was their way of not letting the BMW 3 Series have it all its own way. This example dates from 1993 and can claim just two keepers – both from the same family – to date. With a shade under 97,500 miles recorded, this compact Mercedes-Benz has a lot going for it. Despite this and being complete with an advisory free MOT until November 2025, ‘L430RHF’ is offered here with NO RESERVE. What an enticing opportunity to secure one of the most consequential Mercedes-Benz models in the last few decades.‘L430RHF’ presents in Garnet Red which suits the “mini S-Class” design very well indeed. Designed by the renowned Bruno Sacco, ‘L430RHF’ features his eponymously named “Sacco panels” along each flank. These are finished in body colour and complement the Mercedes-Benz Sportline alloy wheels perfectly. The panel gaps look in keeping with a car that even Mercedes themselves referred to as “massively over-engineered.” The interior was surprisingly spacious given the W201’s reduced footprint. ‘L430RHF’s’ interior is trimmed predominantly in grey fabric with ample accents black and smatterings of wood veneer. The centre sections of the seats feature the familiar and popular sports check fabric, and this also extends into the door cards. The vendor rates the paintwork and bodywork as “average” and interior as “good.”‘L430RHF’ is fitted with a two litre, inline four cylinder engine M102 engine fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. This was originally rated at around 120bhp and this power is fed to the rear wheels via the optional four speed automatic transmission. The current owner – who has stewarded ‘L430RHF’ for over 27 years – is a mechanic and so has serviced and maintained the 190E to a very good standard. The vendor rates the engine, transmission and electrics as “good” and confirms that ‘L430RHF’ “drives great.”In summary:A highly original example of the much admired W201 190EExpertly maintained over 27 years by the current mechanic ownerOffered in an attractive and popular livery
Registration – J449 KNVChassis No. – WDB2010292F909602M.O.T. – ExpiredOdometer – 177,000‘J449 KNV’ is an original looking example of Mercedes-Benz’s first compact car in W201 form and 190E 2.6-litre specification. Mercedes-Benz’s W201 was the product of 8 years of development and £600M of investment in order to take the fight to the BMW 3 Series. This example dates from 1992 and has been enjoyed by six previous keepers. ‘J449 KNV’ is described as a “good runner” and is the bigger, more powerful 2.6-litre example. ‘J449 KNV’ comes complete with plenty of supporting paperwork but doesn’t current hold an MOT with its last one expiring in February 2024. ‘J449 KNV’ is offered here with NO RESERVE and, so, represents an enticing ownership opportunity.‘J449 KNV’ presents in Solid Grey complete with lighter, contrasting “Sacco” panels along each flank. The Mercedes-Benz 'gullideckel' or manhole cover alloy wheels are fitted as is a prominent rear boot spoiler. The interior was surprisingly spacious given the W201’s reduced form factor compared with anything else in the range. ‘J449 KNV’ benefits from the desirable full leather interior adding an extra level of prestige and luxury. A couple of minor imperfections are noted, to include a damaged front arm rest, some loose door cards and intermittently working window switches. The vendor rates the bodywork, paintwork and interior as “average.”‘J449 KNV’ is fitted with the desirable 2.6 litre, inline six cylinder engine M103 engine fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. This was originally rated at around 160bhp and this power is fed to the rear wheels via the optional four speed automatic transmission. Originally this was good for a 130mph plus top speed combined with a smooth, refined delivery. ‘J449 KNV’ has recently been serviced which included a gearbox fluid replacement. The engine and electrics are rated as “average,” and the gearbox as “good.”In summary:A highly original example of the much admired W201 190E in 2.6 litre formCompete with plenty of supporting paperworkSpecified with the desirable full leather interior

Special order Pajett RedFactory hardtopThese fabulous and popular models were launched at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1985, the 420 SL convertible retained its predecessor’s long-running Type 107 bodyshell virtually unchanged. The V8 engined newcomer supplanted the outgoing 380 SL model and was produced alongside the outwardly similar 300 SL ‘six’. Its power unit was an enlarged and improved version of the existing 3.8 litre overhead cam Type M116 V8. The running gear followed Mercedes-Benz’s established pattern, comprising of independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, while a new five-speed manual gearbox was offered alongside the existing four-speed automatic transmission. A mere 2,148 examples of this luxuriously equipped limited edition model were made between 1985 and 1989.Originally registered on 10th June 1988, this Mercedes presents beautifully in the delightful colour combination of Pajett Red (special order) and tan leather interior. The bodywork is in good order and the interior is exceptional given the age and mileage of this 420 SL. The V8 engined R107’s are a delight to drive, offering a smooth delivery of power. Being one of the later R107’s produced, this car benefits from a long list of improvements that are made by manufacturers throughout the production cycle. These generally command a higher price than their earlier cousins. This example must be seen to be appreciated, it is a really good and honest example. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th May 2025, although it is likely the vendor will present the car for a fresh MoT prior to the auction. Mercedes-Benz introduced the W123 four-door versions in January 1976 and, while there were some technical similarities to their predecessors, the new models were larger in wheelbase and exterior dimensions. The styling was also updated, although stylistic links with the W115 were maintained. In September 1982, all models received a mild facelift which included the rectangular headlights, previously only fitted to the 280/280E which were standardised across the board as was power steering. Since February 1982, an optional five-speed manual transmission was available in all models. Optional extras included MB-Tex upholstery, velour or leather upholstery, interior wood trim, passenger side exterior mirror, five-speed manual gearbox, four-speed automatic gearbox, electric windows, central locking, sunroof, air conditioning, climate control, Alpine horn, headlamp wipers, cruise control, power steering and heated seats. An original UK-market right hand drive example, this W123-generation 230 TE was specified with Champagne paintwork over a beige interior, and is equipped with the rare factory options of cruise control and ABS. First registered in January 1983, it has had only five keepers from new and was kept by the same family for 17 years prior to the present owner. Today, the bodywork remains in very good order. While the front wings have previously been restored, this is believed to have been due to corrosion rather than any accident damage, and the underside of the car has been fully cleaned and rust-proofed to protect it from the elements. Fully resprayed a few years ago at a cost of £5,000, the Champagne metallic paintwork still looks good, with only two minor blemishes on the scuttle panel and a bubble at the front driver’s side of the sunroof panel, which is commensurate with the vehicle’s age. All the body trims, including the brightwork and plastic mouldings present very well. This 230 TE rides on the correct set of chromed 14-inch wheels with gold hubcaps. All four feature some chips and scratches to their surfaces, so would perhaps benefit from refurbishment to match the quality of the paint. Inside, it still features all of its original upholstery and trim which appears to be in very good order, considering the car’s age and mileage. The seats are clad in hardwearing beige fabric and show few signs of use, save for some minor blemishes on the base of the driver’s seat. Trimmed in beige vinyl with matching cloth centre sections, the door cards are similarly smart, and while there is a small nick towards the bottom of the rear passenger-side item, this does not detract from the interior’s impressive overall condition. Entertainment is provided via a period-correct Becker Avus cassette player. This modern classic Mercedes’ most recent routine maintenance was an extensive service, which was carried out by specialist Cosford Hall Classic in late 2019 at around 157,000 miles. At a total cost of £9,000, this involved replacement of the brake components and a full engine service, as well as the fitment of a new distributor cap, rotor arm, HT leads and spark plugs, to name but a few items. Prior to this, the brake discs and pads were changed at 156,183 miles, and the timing chain was changed in September 2018. The engine was recently overhauled at a cost of £4500, new radiators installed new fuel injectors were renewed as were the fuel pipes and a new battery was installed. The radio has been changed to a recent Bluetooth one although the original Becker radio will be included with the car, which just need re attaching for use once again. A great classic Mercedes-Benz which has reached ‘cult’ status we believe. Consigned by James Good. ORIG RIGHT HAND DRIVE CARFULL RESPRAY A FEW DAYS AGO
The R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and sold under the SL-Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL-Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. It came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500 SL, becoming the first member of the Royal Family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British Royalty should drive a foreign car. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series, made by Mercedes-Benz, was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof- a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. This very nice example of the iconic and ever popular Mercedes-Benz SL marque is presented in silver with dark red leather interior. It comes with air conditioning, sat nav, electric seats and an electrically operated panoramic roof. It has been serviced by a combination of Mercedes-Benz main dealerships and Mercedes-Benz specialists. It will also arrive at auction with a new MoT test certificate valid until April 2026. The supercharged S-Type R (Jaguar STR for short) joined the lineup in 2002, and the hope was that it would compete with BMW's M5 and the Mercedes E55 AMG. The R was powered by the newly revised handbuilt 4.2 litre V8 with an Eaton M112 supercharger, producing 400bhp and could accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. The R also has a rear apron, side-skirts, and front apron with built-in fog-lamps, a rear spoiler, a brace located near the rear subframe, and R badging on the boot lid and both front wings.Supplied by Harwoods of Chichester in February 2007, this S-Type R is finished in Lunar Grey, complemented by a black and Ivory leather interior and sport aluminium dashboard accents. Showing a mileage of 104,000 miles, backed by a comprehensive service history with Jaguar dealer stamps and work carried out by independent specialists. Fitted with 2.8 litre engineRestored exampleThe Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. Rear-wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where the famous German engineer Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows "It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort."This late Mercedes-Benz Pagoda example was originally registered on 16th March 1971 and presents wonderfully in blue with a contrasting cream interior. The paintwork is excellent and the trim work has been completed to a very high standard. The matching blue hood is new and complements the high quality of the works undertaken. Sold by ourselves in May 2021 as an unfinished project, this stunning Pagoda is now complete and ready to be enjoyed. At some point in the car’s life, it was fitted with a 2778cc Mercedes-Benz engine, this change is recorded on the V5C registration document which is present. Viewing is highly recommended; this desirable right hand drive automatic Mercedes-Benz is offered to auction at what can only be considered an extremely realistic price. Three former keepersLow mileage time warp exampleThe W126 debuted in 1979 and was the second generation to officially bear the S-Class name referring to Sonderklasse or ‘special class’. It was initially offered as a saloon car with straight-six, V8 and turbo diesel engines. In September 1981, a two-door coupé version of the W126 was introduced. Compared to its predecessor, the W126 was more aerodynamic, fuel efficient, capacious and powerful. The model sported a new Mercedes-Benz design style which was subsequently used on other vehicles in the company's line-up. The W126 also included many Mercedes-Benz safety innovations. The first airbag supplemental restraint systems, seatbelt pre-tensioners and traction control system were added to the car’s specification. This example was first registered on 1st January 1990 and was put on the private plate G510 KFR. Our vendor purchased the car through his company in 1994 as the third owner, some years later he transferred the car from his company into his private ownership and this is where it has remained until today, making this a car with only three former keepers (two being the current vendor). Due to his age,our vendor has used the car infrequently in the last decade but for it being started regularly and moved in and out of the dry, heated garage where it is stored. As a result of the infrequent use, it has covered very little mileage in recent years which has contributed to the low mileage of 39,176. Upon inspection, every button was checked and found to be working, the car started and ran without fault and was found to be in time warp condition, even with the first aid kit unused and still in the rear parcel shelf. It is advised that the car requires a service, as the last was in 2007 at 37,405 miles and due to the inactivity but for short starts and movements, a light recommissioning is also recommended. The vendor stated he would not wish the car to be taken on any long journeys without new oil and having any old fuel removed. Pre-sale, the car has been cleaned and detailed and will represent a collectable example at auction. It is offered with a full book pack including stamped service booklet, V5C registration certificate, previous MoT test certificates and some itemised bills. This is one of the best examples of the W126 we have ever stumbled across, with true private ownership over the last 30 years and stored in the correct manor but for a service and light recommissioning, this would be held with a value far in advance of the auction room estimate. Viewing strongly advised to appreciate the quality of this example. The fifth generation SL was in production between 2002 and 2008 and featured the all-new retractable hardtop - an important feature for the British weather. Mercedes-Benz followers were impressed with the stability of the car with the hardtop in place and the ease at which they could remove it. Such was its success; the SL is still one of the leading cars in the Mercedes-Benz range. This generation of car features the very capable 5.0 litre 302bhp V8 powerplant mated to a standard auto gearbox. The R230 also features the ABC (active body control) which offers the balance of comfort and handling. The complex system uses accumulators and hydraulic fluids to regulate the firmness and heights of the suspension.Originally registered on 1st January 2003, this Mercedes-Benz presents in good all-round condition. Engine and gearbox rebuiltSuperb condition – near concoursOne of 562 right hand drive exampleThe Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a two-door grand touring convertible with a removable hardtop that was produced between May 1955 and February 1963 with a prototype first shown at the 1954 New York Motor Show. It was sold alongside the faster, more expensive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL which it closely resembled both in its styling, engineering, detailing and fully independent suspension. However, the 190 SL did not use the 300 SL's purpose-built tubular spaceframe W198 platform but was built on a shortened monocoque R121 unit. The 190 SL was powered by a new 1.9 litre straight-four SOHC engine that developed 104bhp and was later also used in the W120, 180 and W121, 190 models. The four-cylinder engine block of the 190 SL was based on the six-cylinder engine of the 300 SL.This absolutely superb example is presented in metallic grey (silver) with a new red leather interior. This right hand drive example has recently been the subject of a full rebuild which was overseen by marque specialist, Desmond Smail, where circa £140,000 was spent which has resulted in this car being presented in near concours condition. The engine and gearbox have also been rebuilt and starts immediately on the button with no hesitation. The body was bare metal resprayed in the current superb colour of metallic grey (silver) and the chrome has been restored throughout. In short, one could say that this is a ‘new’ 190 SL as it certainly looks and feels like it, with its beautiful Oxblood hood to match!
