A large Victorian needlework sampler, dated 1850, by Elizabeth Sutcliffe, with central verse above trees and a bird, a large country house below, all within a foliate border, rosewood cushion moulded frame81 x 83cm overallThis piece is made on a linen base cloth with threads of wool.There is an area in the bottom right corner which is a bit darker, but the rest has a relatively even colour for its age.The stitches have no holes and show no obvious sign of damage.The wooden frame has a few chips on the outer layer of rosewood, and minor bumps along the back edge of the frame.The gold filet has slipped a little at the top, and the gilding is a bit damaged.We have'nt examined the piece out of the frame.Please see further images.

George II sampler, Dorothy Dethick, dated 1742, worked with bands of the alphabet, the lower section finely worked with various floral and foliate motifs, most likely examples of her practicing her technique, contained within ornately carved gilt frame 37.5cm x 21cm Condition Report:Fragile condition but overall good for the age of the piece, pins holding the sampler in place are beginning to rust, colour in most areas are faded and there is some light staining, thrips beneath glass.

A rare watch case sampler contained in its seemingly original pair cased silver watch, the near circular sampler inscribed ‘A Prosperous Voyage and Safe Return’, amid hearts and other motifs, 4.7cms, the watch with white enamel dial, the fusee movement with elaborate pierced escapement cover and engraved for ‘Thos. Tennant, Childwall, 150’ (Liverpool), the case hallmarked for Chester 1771 by John Wyke and Thomas Green, the watch 5cms dia.
