An Edwardian giltwood and bergere ladies boudoir settee, with bergere panel with exposed foliate carved and scrolling showframe and raised on cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Height to top of back 92 cm, width across arms 104 cm (see illustration).The settee is structurally sound at first glance but on closer inspection the arms are slightly loose at the joints and there is some separation to the joints at the front edges. All of the bergere panels are in good order. There is woodworm to the front left-hand leg, rear left-hand leg, the rear rail and to the rear right-hand leg. The gilding generally is in good order but does have some slight chips to the edges.

Y A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND CANED SETTEE CIRCA 1820 With loose upholstered cushions. The castors stamped 'I. W. Lewty's Patent' with a coronet above the stamp. 88cm high, 196cm wide, 81cm deepPlease note, this settee is rosewood and not as previously published in our printed catalogue. Therefore, the lot is subject to CITES export and import rules. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Some areas are faded and could appear as mahogany, however they are rosewood. The caning in good, tight and useable order, this has recently been redone by a high qualified restorer. Some evidence of old worm to the seat rails, see images. All four castors of exceptional quality and are stamped 'I. W. Lewty's Patent' with a coronet above the stamp. Some areas of repair. The upholstery to the six removable feather filled cushions is in good clean, presentable order overall with some minor fraying, pilling and surface dirt Overall a smart sofa of exceptional quality. A GEORGE II CARVED MAHOGANY AND UPHOLSTERED SETTEE CIRCA 1740 95cm high, 119cm wide, 67cm deep Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.The damask upholstery has some marks, two tears (to the corners that could be covered with cushions) and some pulled threads, though superficially looks good and doesn't have overall wear. A RARE CHINESE EXPORT PADOUK TRIPLE CHAIR BACK SETTEE 18TH CENTURY 106cm high, 159cm wide, 68cm deep overall Provenance: Martyn Gregory Gallery, London Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.Some repairs to some joints including crest/back/arm/seat/leg joints; a later tip to one finial; one leg spliced; the caned seat is not taut and has some sections missing and the canework feels a little brittle; some erosion of wood to back leg and underside of feet.There is some small movement to the arms/frame, and the seat probably needs some repair/replacement and a squab cushion.The quality of the 'shell' carving is crisp and stylized and the curved shape of the back makes this a good Chinese 18th century interpretation of a George II settee.Please see all the additional condition report photographs through the link on the condition report email as a visual reference of condition - they are a vital part of this report.
