An Edwardian Riley 'The Combine' oak patent snooker dining table, with a slate bed, on turned legs, stamped E J Riley Limited, Accrington, together with cues, balls and spare cloth232w x 127d x 79h cmOverall condition is complete and usable, but with signs of age. The top has a patent mechanism, which raises the height, but one of the supportringt blocks has a broken hinge, so is not fixed, but still usable. The leaves sit together but ideally need something to secure them. The slate has a crack within it, but appears flat and held in place. The baize has been replaced in recent years and is intact, but with some surface wear. Pockets are newish. Has balls, cues etc. Collected from a local house move, so unrestored. Heavy to move, but top lifts off the base.

The design was inspired by Salon No.66 by V.S.S., originally a Büttner design. According to Mike and Daphne Tregear's research (EPCS Newsletter 107, page 18), these packs usually had blue spade signs, yellow diamonds, and peach versos, unlike this example.Second item: the plate from which these cards are made was finished on the 1st May 1989, the day Steve Davis won the World Snooker Championship, hence his inclusion as an extra card, and the title of the pack.
