GUNDAM FRANCHISE (1979-PRESENT) - Zechs Marquise Original Production Cel and Matching Drawing - A production setup featuring Zechs Marquise, the masked antihero of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, captured in a dynamic close-up from the cockpit.Created for Gundam Wing, one of the most internationally successful and beloved Gundam series, this piece dates from the golden era of cel animation before digital took over. It also ties into the 30th anniversary celebrations of Gundam Wing's broadcast, making it an especially timely and desirable setup.Zechs (known as Milliardo Peacecraft in disguise) remains one of the most enduringly complex characters in the Gundam franchise - a tragic, charismatic figure whose loyalties and ideals are always in flux. This cel showcases him mid-dialogue in uniform, wearing his distinctive helmet with strands of blonde hair visible beneath. His expression, commanding yet composed, perfectly captures the essence of his conflicted persona. This setup includes the original hand-painted animation cel accompanied by the matching production drawing, complete with colour callouts and timing annotations, offering a full window into the animation process. The accompanying production drawing (douga) is not only tightly rendered but richly annotated, revealing the colour layering and technical planning that would inform the cel painting. The paper is standard Studio Sunrise format, punched for registration pegs, with the END timing notated.Original Gundam cels, particularly of major characters like Zechs, have become increasingly scarce and sought after. This is a particularly sharp, clean example, with bold colour application and crisp linework. Dimensions: 23 cm x 26 cm (9" x 10.25")Sold without copyright; see copyright notice in the Buyer's Guide.VAT Status: M
GUNDAM FRANCHISE (1979-PRESENT) - Sandrock Custom Original Production Cel - An original production cel featuring the Sandrock Custom, one of the most recognisable mobile suits from Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. The film marked the end of the original Wing storyline and brought closure to one of the franchise's most internationally beloved entries. It also represents a key transitional moment in anime history, as one of the last major Gundam projects to be fully animated using traditional cel techniques before digital production took over. Cels from Endless Waltz showing the upgraded Custom units are increasingly sought after. This cel exemplifies the bold, high-contrast visual language that made Endless Waltz so iconic. Hajime Katoki's reimagined designs brought a new stylisation and flourish to the original Gundam Wing units. In particular, Sandrock Custom's sleeker profile, upgraded Heat Shotels, and broadened shoulders gave the unit a more imposing silhouette while still remaining true to Quatre Raberba Winner's original mobile suit. The Sandrock Custom is seen here mid-assault, with its Heat Shotel raised and shield arm extended. It captures the mecha's signature charge pose with an explosion of animated energy. Surrounding the Gundam is an abstract FX overlay of shattered debris and environmental energy. A dramatic visual used in 1990s anime to heighten the force of Sandrock's movement, bursting outward as if from the moment of impact. "C/2" is handwritten in the top right corner. Dimensions: 23 cm x 27 cm (9" x 10.75")Sold without copyright; see copyright notice in the Buyer's Guide.VAT Status: M

LES ADVENTURES DE TINTIN (TV SERIES, 1959-1964) - Tintin Destination Moon Original Production Cel and Hand-Painted Background Setup - An original production cel and hand-painted background setup from Les Aventures de Tintin, the 1959-1964 animated television adaptation produced by Belvision Studios. While the later 1991 Nelvana series has arguably become the best-known adaptation of Herge's work, this earlier version remains the cult favourite, partly for its classic style, partly for the impact of the first interpretation of Herge's work, and partly for the nostalgic hold it has over a generation of European and international viewers.Original production setups from this series are exceedingly scarce, and those set on the moon, arguably the most iconic setting of Tintin's literary legacy, are especially desirable. The combination of space exploration, dramatic effects animation, and a rarely seen suit design makes this a superb piece for collectors attuned to both animation history and the evolution of Tintin on screen. This striking image features Tintin in a simplified, early space suit design, a notable variation from the later, more intricate suits familiar to fans of the Explorers on the Moon and Destination Moon comic albums and subsequent animated series in the 1990s.This setup originates from the Destination Moon arc, produced as part of Series 2 (Episodes 12-33), which loosely adapted Objectif Lune and On a Marche sur la Lune. While the episodes followed Herge's core narrative, they introduced considerable deviations tailored to international audiences due to Belvision's efforts to pitch the series to the American market. The cel captures Tintin mid-scene, reacting with surprise as fragments of moon rock dramatically whizz past, rendered here using dynamic brushwork applied directly to the top of the acetate cel. These layered effects are a rare surviving example of the hand-rendered visual techniques used to heighten drama and motion within these early European productions. Dimensions: 25.5 cm x 31 cm (10" x 12.25")Sold without copyright; see copyright notice in the Buyer's Guide.VAT Status: M

GUNDAM FRANCHISE (1979-PRESENT) - Deathscythe Hell Original Production Cel and Hand-Painted Background - An original production cel featuring Deathscythe Hell created for Endless Waltz, the climactic conclusion to Gundam Wing. Deathscythe Hell's redesign for Endless Waltz has become one of the franchise's most celebrated: sleek, angular, and unapologetically cool. This original production cel captures Deathscythe Hell in dynamic form, preserving that bold, stylised energy that defined the 1990s Gundam. It is framed by an atmospheric, hand-painted sky background. While not a screen-matched pair, both elements originate from the studio and era, creating an authentic, layered display piece with real presence. Now, 30 years since Gundam Wing first aired, setups like this have become increasingly rare. These materials were working tools, never intended to survive. To find a cel of such an iconic mobile suit, and one presented with a production background, is a privilege. It brings together the art and immediacy of hand-drawn animation, frozen mid-action, before the digital era changed the process forever. Dimensions: 24 cm x 28 cm (9.5" x 11")Sold without copyright; see copyright notice in the Buyer's Guide.VAT Status: M
Very rare (incomplete) set 33 of American M. Nelson statesman themed playing cards, circa 1863. Mr Rayner notes: 'The scarcity of this set cannot be overstated. Nelson also issued a companion set of Union generals playing cards, which is equally rare, and that both card sets have been reproduced in modern times. In fact, the cards from 1863, however, are virtually absent from the collecting world. Card playing reproduction sets are extremely popular and can easily be found for sale. The original was one the main diversions enjoyed by Civil War soldiers during the many lulls in battle, so it is not surprising that a company issued cards picturing the main military figures for each side. The Confederate set features all of the important leaders and generals in the campaign, including Confederate President Jefferson Davis (ten of spades), General Robert E. Lee (three of hearts), and General Stonewall Jackson (four of clubs). Each individual is featured in a bust-length illustration, with the card's denomination and suit depicted in the upper left corner. Like the tobacco cards of Civil War generals (issued in the late 1880s), which appeal to both Civil War and nonsport card collectors, the offered set has the potential to be highly prized by hobbyists from a number of different fields of collecting (nonsport cards, playing cards, Civil War, etc.). Unfortunately, its rarity has precluded it from being represented in all but the most advanced collections, and as far as we can tell, sets surface so infrequently that there is no consensus on value. Still, it is hard not to appreciate that this remarkably designed set of cards featuring Confederate generals and leaders, issued in 1863 during the heart of the Civil War, would not find a home among the same audience that so highly prizes cards issued of the same historical figures dating from decades later.'
