A large French gilt metal sewing companion in the form of a basket weave bee skep, circa 1870, octagonal alabaster base, the bee skep entwined with green coloured leaves and numerous attendant bees. The interior with flush fitted tray in old velvet with silver gilt tools comprising sliding cylinder pencil, elaborately mounted steel stiletto, a fine tambour hook, and a replacement fancy needle case, and further fitted with a cut glass scent bottle with gilt metal screw cover, a gold thimble and bodkin (probably both matched), a single blade folding knife with tortoiseshell scales, three mother of pearl snowflake thread winders in mirror base compartments and a pair of steel scissors by Bramah, probably matched, box 16.7 x 10.4 x 5cms.
