Registration No: 117 UYM Chassis No: 77451 MOT: ExemptSubject to a full bodywork restoration by the current vendorOffered with a collection of photographs of the restorationOffered from long term ownershipA unique opportunity for bubble car aficionados everywhereIntroduced in 1953 as the 'fend', after its co-designer Fritz Fend, the KR175 Kabinenroller (scooter with cabin) was soon marketed under the more famous Messerschmitt name. The narrow body and corresponding low frontal area was achieved with tandem seating and handlebar controls which also allowed the body to taper like an aircraft fuselage. Powered by a two-stroke 148cc Fichtel & Sachs engine that produced a modest 9bhp, the fuel consumption was reported to be 87mpg with a top speed of 55mph. In 1955, an improved KR200 was introduced with a larger 191cc engine, revised bodywork, an improved turning circle and floor-mounted accelerator and clutch. The tandem seating allowed centralised weight distribution irrespective of occupants, avoiding the flawed logic of the Isetta's lop-sided engine arrangement, and providing the little tricycle with handling characteristics that outclassed its contemporaries. Four forward and four reverse gears made for rapid progress in either direction with a top speed of 62mph. Available in the UK from 1955 onwards, production ceased in 1964 after some 30,000 KR200s had been built.Interest in 'micro cars' has been on the rise for some time, of which many view the tandem seat Messerschmitts as the cream of the crop. This delightful KR200 originally arrived in the UK via rail through Germany and Belgium. Becoming well known in club circles during its early days, ‘117 UYM’ was then off the road for some forty years. Subsequently treated to a comprehensive restoration using only original and club-supplied parts, the Messerschmitt had its engine and transmission overhauled by a club specialist and its body reconfigured as a Convertible. The vendor informs us that the Messerschmitt is now 'very presentable and drives really well', and is offering it complete with a copy of the original sales invoice, club certificate of origin and numerous restoration photographs. K200s are powered by a 191cc Fichtel & Sachs single-cylinder two stroke engine which, thanks to the model's low weight and effective aerodynamics, will propel the little two-seater to c.60mph - which it can attain both forwards and backwards! Make & Model:Honda, Shadow Date of Reg:LC58VDE Colour:Blue cc:745 Fuel Type:Petrol Mileage:70659 Summary:This 745cc Honda Shadow Tricyle began life as a Honda VT 750 and was registered in January 2009. A conversion to a tricycle was undertaken in 2019 by means of a bolt-off custom-designed rear end centred on the machine's swinging arm. It is able to be converted back to a motorcycle easily as no structural changes have been made to the original machine. Its odometer shows 70,659 miles and its last MoT expired in August 2023 after having been tested the year before at an indicated 70,300 miles. It was last serviced at 68,206 miles in December 2015 but the vendor suggests it will need some recommissioning due to its recent lack of use. However, it is running and riding. Additional parts with the Honda include leather luggage bags. Paperwork with the tricycle includes its V5C, book pack with owner's handbook and service book, old MoTs, photos, and weighbridge certificate. There's also spare keys.
Registration No: R 1197 Frame No: 637 MOT: ExemptAn excellent restoration of a rare 500cc ArielThought to be a 3½hp Tourist Trophy modelSupplied with lots of paperwork and a V5CLike many British motorcycle companies, Ariel began producing bicycles in the late 1800s eventually progressing onto motorcycles in the early 1900s, in fact their first foray into the production of vehicles powered by an internal combustion engine was in 1898 when a tricycle powered by a 1 3/4hp De Dion engine was displayed at Crystal Palace in 1898. In 1902 Ariel introduced their first motorcycle with a 211cc Minerva engine. This model laid the foundation for Ariel's subsequent success as a motorcycle manufacturer, prompting the introduction of an engine produced in-house. Between 1902 and 1909 Ariel relied on an inlet over exhaust configuration, however, for the 1910 season they introduced a radical new design that utilised side valves mounted four and a half inches apart. The new power plant was manufactured for Ariel by White and Poppe of Coventry and displaced 482cc. Rated at 3½hp the new engine was installed in a conventional diamond frame and was initially offered in two forms, either as a direct drive machine or with a variable gear. This stunning-looking example was discovered in the hayloft of a property when purchased by the vendor for redevelopment. Research suggested that this machine was a 1911 Tourist Trophy model and realising it was a rare find, in 2007 he commissioned an enthusiast to undertake its restoration to the excellent condition it is now presented in. The bike was in quite a state when found, so it is a real credit to the restorer, a Mr J. Tullett of Norfolk, who kept a photographic record of the process that will be included in the sale. The house was located on the outskirts of Derby and had previously been owned by the head of the Rolls Royce factory located nearby, so it was possibly his own personal transport with the 'R' registration number being issued only in Derbyshire. Since restoration, the bike has been displayed in the owner's office, so it still looks as good as the day it was completed. With the help of the VMCC, the original registration number was retrieved and the bike comes with the V5C and all the documentation concerning this together with lots of other paperwork and books. Not run for a number of years, it will require some recommissioning. For more information, please contact: Ian Cunningham ian.cunningham@handh.co.uk 07415871189
