A long spouted squat pottery pouring vessel, Nishapur, eastern Iran, 10th century, Shallow, with a slightly rising trough spout, the exterior painted under the glaze in white and yellow slip with roundels containing manganese birds a stylised garland of scrolling motifs below, the spout with manganese brush strokes, the interior with a simplifies flying bird30.4cm. across, including spoutProvenance: Christie's 18 October 1994, Lot 273Condition Report: This vessel is repaired and restored from multiple breaks. An inspection under U. V reveals extensive repaints and fills to the body and shoulders.The department would recommend an inspection of this work in person before bidding.
