WW1 period Manchester Special Constable's hardwood Police Truncheon dated 1914-1919, with King’s Crown, Heraldic Arms of Manchester and JOHN T. CLARK annotated below Special Constable and above dates. All nicely decorated in colour and in good condition for age, with grooved grip and rounded butt, fitted with original leather wrist strap, 40cm overall length. The wood is undamaged with some scratches but no dents. The rounded head is stamped with maker's mark W. LINDOH MANCHESTER and was presented to JOHN T. CLARK, a Special Constable who saw service during WW1. Sold together with recipient's GV in robes, Special Constabulary medal as named to him in Fattorini & Sons Ltd hinged red box.(2)
Edinburgh Police interest, a Victorian long stave truncheon, the blackened body with painted crowned VR cypher above two golden rings enclosing 'REST COM 27 WARD 2', possibly for 'Resident Commissioner 27 Ward 2 of the Edinburgh City Police', 60cm long.
