An early 18th century walnut longcase clock by Alexander Reed London, with moulded cornice above the glazed door enclosing the silvered brass dial with two train movement, date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, the dial being 12" square with long trunk door with lenticle and complete with two brass bound weights and pendulum. Height 214 cm, case maximum width 47 cm (see illustration). The case is generally in good condition. It shows some cracking to the veneers but nothing majorly untoward. There are signs of historic woodworm which have been waxed and filled at some point to the trunk door, the left-hand side of the hood below the glazed panel, the cornice front left and right and the right-hand side of the hood below the glazed panel. To the right-hand side of the hood at the front there is a small section of timber missing where the gilded square section swings past on the hinge. The trunk door has a very slight warp most noticeable at the top left-hand side. When removing the hood, you can see that the cheeks have been adjusted and new timbers put in place. The feather from the pendulum is missing and so we are unable to see whether the clock is working.
A Georgian walnut cased longcase clock by John Stancliffe, eight day with moonphase and subsidiary second dial and date aperture. Height including finial 217 cm, with two weights and pendulum (see illustration). The hood is generally in good order. There are some slight losses to the timber behind the right-hand column. We cannot work out how this has happened. There are the usual cracking marks to the veneer but nothing untoward. There are some historic woodworm holes and the left-hand column has a small loss to the front left-hand side. The trunk door is in good order and both the left and right-hand sides of the trunk have cracking marks to the veneers. The base has been cut down at some point and there is some splitting to the left-hand edge, also a small section of veneer missing which is approx. 2 cm x 1 cm square to the left-hand side of this section.

Porthouse of Barnard Castle Georgian 30 hour longcase clock, with brass dial with Roman numerals and date aperture, marked Porthouse BD Castle, with an oak case, comes with single weight and pendulum. Height including finials 213 cm, width 44.5 cm, depth 25 cm (see illustration). The case appears to have had some restoration work done, especially to the hood and around the finials. In our opinion this has been done quite sympathetically. The hood door works as it should, the trunk door works as it should. The base has a split to the timber at the front which should be visible on the photographs. When removing the hood you can see there are signs of historic woodworm to the cornice but this appears to be long gone. The cheeks of the case have been built up with replacement timbers at some point. The clock is currently ticking away but it does not seem to want to stay working. Looking at the movement it is quite dirty and would benefit from a clean.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Walter Barr numbered 393, with date aperture moonphase and showing high water at Londonderry, brass dial eight day movement and with long trunk door flanked by column corners. Height 235 cm. In our opinion the movement and case do not belong together. The hood has been reworked and has had some later add-ons. The cheeks and seatboard have been completely altered as has the backboard.
