Footnotes: Provenance Private Collection, France A pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904), Hippolyte-Dominique Berteaux was known for his genre scenes, portraits, and decorative commissions. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1866 and received several honours during his career.
