2006 Harley-Davidson (VRXSE) V-Rod Destroyer Drag Bike Registration no. not registered Frame no. HDR7RC71J6K976851 Engine no. RC76976851 • Factory purpose built Drag Race Bike based upon the H-D V-Rod • Liquid cooled 60-degree 8 valve V-Twin, 165 horsepower • Equipped with many race-only parts including a wheelie bar Harley-Davidson's first ready-to-race drag bike, the V-Rod Destroyer was built specifically for competition, and when released, it was the quickest accelerating production motorcycle ever built. Introduced for the 2006 All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) and NHRA Pro Stock seasons with a price tag of around $30,000, it was powered by a liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-Twin Revolution engine with four valves per cylinder and fuel injection, producing 165BHP. It could blast through a quarter-mile in under 10 seconds at speeds of up to 144 mph. Strictly a track machine, it was not road legal. Developed by Harley's Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) in partnership with the Screamin' Eagle performance parts division, it was designed to take on four-cylinder Japanese race bikes in NHRA Pro Stock events. Its development also benefited from input by NHRA Pro Stock Champion Matt Hines. Originally, Harley intended to manufacture only 150 units, but due to overwhelming demand, production was increased to 646. Racing-specific components include a high 14:1 compression ratio, a stroked crankshaft, a slipper clutch, and an air shifter with a pressurised air bottle. Other standout features included velocity stacks for the fuel injection system, a five-speed gearbox, and a racing slick tyre mounted on a six-inch-wide rear wheel. The rigid-mounted aluminium swingarm eliminates rear suspension, while a removable wheelie bar ensures stability during hard launches. This example was purchased by the private vendor in April 2024 from an online auction house as part of a liquidation sale of a Harley-Davidson and KTM dealership, and then described as: 'a bored-out 1,300cc engine, balanced and lightened crank, high-flow heads, large valves, 105mm big bore high-compression pistons, custom barrels, tuned velocity stacks, 58mm throttle bodies, multi-stage lock-up clutch, air shifter, and fully programmable fuelling. One of only 646 worldwide, this bike has competed and won trophies at Straightliners events and the Ramsey Sprint on the Isle of Man. The exhaust was replaced with a bespoke Vance & Hines unit to meet noise regulations at certain tracks. Stored indoors for over 10 years, it remains in good condition. Extremely rare and highly collectible, only four are known to survive in the UK. Once owned by Chester Harley-Davidson, it was never available for purchase - until now. Whether raced or displayed, this is a stunning machine and a true collector's item. The bike fires up instantly and sounds incredible'. The vendor has enjoyed displaying the machine in his home but believes it should go to someone who will use it as intended. The motorcycle starts (see video online) though remains otherwise untested, and has not been ridden whilst in its current ownership, hence its running and mechanical condition, specification and completeness remains unknown, so careful recommissioning will be required to a greater or lesser extent. Sold strictly as viewed. Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
