A Victorian silver desk inkstand Daniel & John Wellby, London 1894 Rectangular form with gadroon rims, rectangular pen compartment with hinged cover, two circular receivers to the front, with engraved armorial and crest, on claw and ball feet, length 22.2cm, weight 25.2oz. Footnotes: Provenance: By descent through the Jervis family to the present owners, descendants of Admiral of the Fleet and 1st Earl of St Vincent (1734-1823) These engravings represent the complete armorial achievement for the JERVIS family, holders of the Viscountcy of St Vincent of Meaford, Staffordshire. At the date of assay (1894) the incumbent was Carnegie Parker JERVIS (1855-1908) 5th Viscount, the second son of Carnegie Robert John JERVIS (1825-1879) 3rd Viscount by Lucy Charlotte GLEGG (1824-1900) daughter of John Baskervyle GLEGG (1784-1877) of Withington Hall, Cheshire. The 5th Viscount inherited the title after the death of his elder brother Edward John Leveson JERVIS (1850-1885) 4th Viscount, who died unmarried when killed in action. In 1885 he married Rebecca May BASTON (1860-1908) daughter of James BASTON, a marriage that ended in divorce 1896. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
