Title: Portrait of a Girl Medium: Pastel on Paper Signature: Signed Lower Left Provenance: Private Collection Framed Lot Description: Seán Keating PRHA (1889–1977), Portrait of a Young Woman, pastel on toned paper, signed lower left. A refined and sensitively modelled head-and-shoulders portrait of a young woman with long blond hair and a poised expression. Executed in pastel with delicate tonal transitions and confident draughtsmanship, this work reflects Keating’s masterful approach to portraiture. The sitter is dressed in a white blouse and red jacket, rendered with warmth and subtle texture, against a softly diffused background. Presented in a gilt and black frame with cream mount. Image: 34.5 x 27 cm.; Framed: 51.5 x 62 cm. PICTURES AND PRINTS Tuesday 16th September 2025 19:03:20 Biography SEAN KEATING PPRHA HRA HRSA (1889 - 1977) Seán Keating was one of Ireland’s foremost 20th-century painters, celebrated for his portraits, heroic depictions of Irish identity, and industrial scenes. Trained at the Metropolitan School of Art and in London under Sir William Orpen, Keating served as President of the RHA and remains a central figure in Irish art history. His works are held in all major Irish public collections, including the National Gallery of Ireland.
